Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these compatible with Profoto and if so, do I need to order any other sync cords?

A: Yes, the Pocketwizard PlusX is compatible with most of the Profoto line. You will need a PlusX for each Profoto and one for your camera. It comes with a sync cord with adapters so you can use it without the need of other sync cords.Note the PlusX is a manual sync so it will sync the strobe, but it is not TTL or have the ability to change power from the camera.

Q: 2. will this fit a 2.5 mm input on a godox v860111?

A: No, the PocketWizard Cable Kit for Plus X and Plus III is not compatible for use with the Godox Ving V860III TTL Li-Ion Flash. The PocketWizard cables listed above have a 1/8" (3.5 mm) miniphone sync connector, whereas the Godox Ving V860III TTL Li-Ion Flash uses a 2.5 mm sub-miniphone sync connector. As such, I would instead recommend the Medalight PGTC - Sub-Miniphone (aka Metz Single Pin) to PC Male Sync Cord for PG3001ML - Straight 10.0' (3.0 m), B&H # MEPGTC, and the Nisha Miniphone 1/8" (3.5mm) Male to Submini (2.5mm) Male Sync Cord (16"), B&H # NIFSC163525, for your usage needs.

Q: 3. I have a Canon 70D and a Metz speed light, is this what I need to use my flash with an umbrella off camera??

A: Yes. You will need 2 of them. One on the camera and one at the flash. Note that this will only trigger the flash unit. It has no TTL function or control of the flash power. Think of it as an 'electronic' cable release. The pocketwizard site has some very good video's on using the PlusX.

Q: 4. Does this product work with TTL for Nikon cameras?

A: The PlusX units are not TTL. For TTL, you would need the Flex and Mini units from PocketWizard (#WIFTT5N and #WIMTT1N).

Q: 5. Will this work with the Yongnuo YN560 IV speedlights?

A: yes

Q: 6. Will this works with older profoto pack with integrated pocketwizard?

A: Yes this unit is backwards compatible with built in Pocket Wizard receivers found in many Profoto power packs or monolights.

Q: 7. compatible with Sony A7S??

A: The Pocketwizard PlusX is compatible with the a7S, yes.

Q: 8. Would these work on Leica SL-2S to trigger an Elinchrom Five?

A: Yes, the PocketWizard Plus X 2 Pack would work on the Leica SL2-S Mirrorless Camera and would trigger an Elinchrom FIVE Monolight Kit.

Q: 9. Will the Plus X work with the Samsung NX 20 as a flash trigger for off camera flash units?

A: Yes, but you have to have another unit for your off camera flash unit. These units act as both a receiver and transmitter. One is attached to your camera's hot shoe and another is attached to your flash via PC cable.

Q: 10. Can two PlusX (transmitter) trigger 1 PlusX (receiver) simultaneously without interfering? A situation when the 2nd shooter is also using 2nd transmitter to trigger the same strobe the first shooter is triggering ?

A: If you've got two photographers in the same studio, each with a PlusX transceiver on their camera (set to the same channel), they can both trigger the strobes. The receiver doesn't care where the signal comes from, just that it's the right frequency. The limiting factor will be the recycle rate of the lighting units (which can be a few seconds, depending on their settings) so if you both try to trigger the strobes at the same exact time, they'll only fire once.

I have heard about Pocketwizards since I started back into photography years ago. I had no idea though just how good these things are. Pretty much plug and play I was shooting withing ten minutes of the box arriving on my door. And most of that time was unpacking. Put the batteries in, attach the strap, set the channel and go. It's that easy.

Purchased this Pocket Wizard for use on my flash off-camera. Using Nikon system to fire off-camera flash was not giving a consistent result. Tried another triggering system with no success. Returned that system to B&H with ease and purchased my 2nd Pocket Wizard. Works flawless on my off-camera flash unit. Excellent results.

I have worked with the PocketWizard Plus iii's as well as the older models for a while at most of the studios i work out of. however when it came to purchasing transceivers for my own personal work i turned to the PlusX. Very simple and easy to use, the PlusX does exactly what i need them to do. 10 channels give more versatility if needed but for the most part they are just simple enough for triggering my lights, Obviously exactly what they are intended to do. The fact that PocketWizard offers a 2 pack on this product is brilliant and very convenient. I would definitely be purchasing more when the tome comes.

This device performs one function, but it does it very well and reliably. Best to buy the industry standard for just a couple dollars more (best to get the 2Pack) and have the performance and worry free reliability of the PocketWizard. Doesn't have the group function of the 3Plus so just make sure you're fine with that when getting these. Otherwise a great product.
