Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this lens suitable for indoor and real estate video?

A: I use this to photograph vehicles and it works perfectly. I've also some some interior shots in homes and I love that it doesn't give a warped perspective. I'd say it would be great for real estate.

Q: 2. I guess camera built-in image correction for jpegs won't work on Olympus? How about lens correction in Lightroom - is there a LR profile? How does that work? Can you apply a Panasonic profile to an image shot on Olympus?

A: Absolutely , you can apply LR profile lenses to any image you shoot if the specific lens profile is available in the LR database.

Q: 3. Will the promo-backorders made in December (for $99) be fulfilled now that the lens is available?

A: I apologize, but this type of request cannot be taken care of through this feature of our website. Please contact our Customer Service department by entering Live Chat, emailing directly to cs@a href= http://bhphoto.com, target= _blank bhphoto.com,/a or calling us toll-free at 800.221.5743.

Q: 4. How is the distortion with this lens?

A: I haven't used it that much, but I did not notice and distortion when I have used it.

Q: 5. What is the difference between the ASPH and ASPH II?

A: As far as I have been able to tell; one is grey and the other is black. I've been using the first for awhile now and it lives on my e-m1. I grabbed an ASPH II for my brother's e-m5 this Christmas. Optically we haven't been able to find any difference, my sensor is definitely dirtier though. Personally I think the black looks better but that just might be because I like to pretend I'm a ninja.

Q: 6. Does this have image stabilization?

A: Yes, it has image stabilization. I works great!

Q: 7. This lens is compatible with Panasonic GF2?

A: yes it will fit all micro 4 /3 cameras from Panasonic and Olympus

Q: 8. Does it comes in gray?

A: At this time this lens is only available in black.

Q: 9. Any new firmware for this lens?

A: This consumer lens does not need firmware.

Q: 10. May I know if this lens is covered by International Warranty as I am staying in Singapore / Malaysia?

A: The lenses sold on B&H are specifically meant for the US market, and camera/lens manufacturers generally do not provide warranty for products sold to their intended region.

I bought this to be the main lens fixed to my GX7, to be attached to the camera when not in use in lieu of a front camera cap. I figured it would also serve well as the just grab it and shoot kind of lens, where when I see a shot and need a camera quickly as possible, this one is waiting with a lens on it. At the 35mm equivalent of 28mm, you get a not too wide wide angle shot...back far enough for good group portraits or vacation/traveling scenes, but not so far back that you introduce too much ancillary subjects into the scene that you'd prefer to crop out. I was surprisingly impressed with picture quality. I wasn't expecting poor quality, but what I've gotten is high quality at any f/stop. Even wide open, the image was noticeably free of any aberration or color bleeding, albeit a bit soft, especially as you approach the edges. That's really the main con I have of the lens: it does tend to be a bit soft at the wider apertures, and there was slight light falloff to the corners when wide-open. I've used it predominantly indoors, sometimes without a flash, sometimes with, and in both instances the images were consistent and reliable. Focusing is fast and quiet. There is considerable noise once you go past ISO 800, but it is a micro four thirds camera after all...you gotta expect some noise at higher ISOs. The lens is so light and compact, you feel like you're shooting with the lens cap. I can't say how durable it is, since I have yet to test it in rain, and I haven't dropped it yet. But, it is very light and made of what feels like pretty cost-efficient plastic, so I wouldn't be using it as a hockey puck anytime soon. I doubt it's very rugged. The lens mounts and dismounts on the GX7 with perfect ease. I'd definitely recommend this lens to anyone who is looking for a lightweight, portable lens that delivers consistently good images.

I wanted a small wide angel lens that was reasonably fast for street and landscape photos. I use this lens on my Olympus camera and the auto focus works well.
