Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this reader read XQD and CFexpress cards?

Q: 2. Can this read CFexpress type A cards too?

A: Yes

Q: 3. How can a 10Gb/s reader achieve 1700MB/s. Surely, that is impossible?

A: The Exascend CFexpress Type B Card Reader can transfer up to 10gb/s which is faster than 1700mb/s. But with how usb-c is and speed it will be no faster than about 1700mb/s. GB is (gigabytes. and GB is Megabits.

Q: 4. Two questions: 1. Can this read the cards that are used in the canon C300 mark III about to release? They are cfexpress type B but not sure if they use any xqd 2. Can I use an apple thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter to connect this to my thunderbolt 2 macbook pro? Or is there an adapter to connect it? Obviosly usb 2 would be last resort and very annoyingly slow so trying to figure out how to connect at a higher speed. I read the apple adapter might be for thunderbolt 3 but not usbc so not sure how I can connect cfexpress type b card to my thunderbolt2 macbook (even if that means a different reader and dock from owc or something thats fine just need some help with this.

A: The ANCFX31PK is not compatible with the XQD cards. The following is an adapter that you may want to consider. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1548491-REG/prograde_digital_pgrwcfxxqdana_digital_cfxb_xqd_thunderbolt_3.html/specs So long as the thunderbolt 3 side of the adapter is connected to the card reader, then you can connect a TB2 cable from his macbook to the adapter

Q: 9. Does this read non express CF cards? or just express CF cards

A: No, the Xcellon CFexpress Type B Card Reader can only read CF Express cards with that specific card slot. Another option would be Xcellon CFexpress Type B and UHS-II SD Card Reader; the two card slots fit both SD and CF Express Type B.

Q: 10. Is the card reader plug and play? Neither my Mojave imac or windows 10 system detected it.

Recently bought the Canon EOS R5 so had to buy a reader for the CFexpress card. There are several options. This one got good reviews. Can't say that I've used it for very long but it's working perfectly so far. Use it with an iMac and the included USB adapter. It's small so it doesn't take up a lot of dest space and appears solidly built. The card has a nice, solid feeling engagement is a faster download than any SD card I've ever used. Perfect.

When I needed a CFExpress reader, I opted for another, less expensive product. That worked but, it was slow on a USB 2.0, the reader got hot during use, and I had issues disconnecting it from my Win 10 machine. After reading the reviews of others, I decided to try this. Almost immediately, I noticed it was faster, cooler to the touch, and the disconnect problem ended. Wish I had gotten this one first.

I have no complaints. It should work s little faster if I had a faster USB3 port.

It has really nice build quality and advertised read/write speeds. You need an Angelbird reader to update firmware on their cards, so if you're using their media already, this is the one to get.

I use it with Angelbird 2TB AV Pro CFexpress 2.0 Type B Memory Card.
Works fast, not complains. May become hot during extensive use, but not burning hot.
The only complain - the provided no-slip sticky pads will cover (hide) either serial number, or screws at the unit bottom. I decided against using them.
