The black I2 Acoustic Guitar Microphone Kit with 6-Pin Hirose Connector from Countryman is a mic that has been built from the ground up for smooth frequency response, low noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls and natural on- and off-axis response. It can be used to capture natural audio for this instrument.

The I2 microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version features increased sensitivity for distance miking and positions the acoustic guitar mount and pickup on the center hole of this instrument. In addition, the 5' cable is hardwired to the mic and terminates with a 6-pin Hirose connector for direct connection to Samson TX3, UT5, and UT6 wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the instrument mounts, which position securely and gently on the instrument for capturing audio.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning and consistent patterns.

The hypercardioid polar pattern has a narrower pickup pattern in its front than the cardioid polar pattern. It offers better rejection of ambient noise and the working distance is about twice that of the omni polar pattern. The hypercardioid has a small "pickup lobe" directly behind the microphone and exhibits maximum rejection areas behind and to the sides (about 60 degrees away from the rear of the microphone on either side) of the mic. The hypercardioid pattern works best when the loudest unwanted sounds—like speakers—can be positioned in these nulls.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this battery plate open in the back exposing the circuit board like it shows in the photo, or is it completely sealed up.

A: Yes, the back of the bebob Amicro Gold Mount Battery Plate with 4-Pin Hirose & USB Type-C Outputs is exposed (as shown in the photo).

Q: 2. How long is it stretched and unstretched?

A: At this time, that spec is not specified by the manufacturer.

Q: 3. Is this the same mic that comes with the RodeLink?

A: Yes it is, but the Lavalier included with the Filmmaker Kit is already fitted with the Micon 1 connector. You will need to buy that separately with this stand-alone model.

Q: 4. From an Amira to MSU-1, does this cable provide power?

A: For questions regarding Arri cameras please reach out to our Studio Sales team at TheStudio@BHPhoto.com

Q: 5. Will this work with a laptop? Need the adapter MICON-2? Does a laptop have the 1v power on its mic input?

A: The Rode Lavalier requires 2 to 5V of plug-in power for operation. It would be best to use a USB audio interface that has a dedicated mic input with a preamp. The interface can supply the proper amount of power for optimum performance and control of the mic. For the MiCon adapter, use the Rode MiCon 5 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones - XLR (B&H # ROMICON5) which provides an XLR connector and allows the mic to connect to a standard XLR input. For a very basic interface, you can the Polsen XLR-USB-48 XLR to USB Audio Interface (B&H # POXLRUSB48) which is compatible with Mac and Windows, and no drivers are required. It also features a headphone jack with level control for monitoring and the USB cable is included. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat for further assistance and we can help you to find the best options for your application.

Q: 6. Is this wired for and will it work to power a smallhd ac7 from a Sony f5

A: I'm using this to power up my lectrosonics transmitter via battery bud with a NP-1 battery. If your F5 has an external power source and has a hirose plug for that job, than yeah ot should be able to power up a small ac7

Q: 7. Will I need an adapter to use this mic with my canon 7d mark ii camera? If so which one please? Thank you

A: Yes you will need an adapter : Rode MiCon 1 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones (Sennheiser)

Q: 8. How can I wire this instead of using it wirelessly? I know this thing needs power and it won't work when I plug it into a camera with an adapter.

A: You can use the Rode MiCon 2 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones (B&H # ROMICON2 / MFR # MICON-2) which will allow you to connect the Rode lavalier mic directly to a 3.5mm TRS mic input on a DSLR or mirrorless camera or a portable recorder and use plug-in power supplied by the input of the camera or recorder.

Q: 9. My friend gave me his but neither him or I know if it has to have a specific program to work, does it? And can I just plug it in and will it work for iPhone 6plus voice memo?

A: It will need an adapter from Rode to convert it to work with the iPhone. I have found this to be a very good mic.

Q: 10. Think this would work with a GH4?

A: This unit is specifically for the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera (BMPCC) which has particular needs. Therefore it is our opinion that we would have to answer your question in the negative.
