The black I2 Acoustic Guitar Microphone Kit with 3.5mm Connector from Countryman is a mic that has been built from the ground up for smooth frequency response, low noise, and precise polar patterns with deep nulls and natural on- and off-axis response. It can be used to capture natural audio for this instrument.

The I2 microphone is suitable for distance miking that is invisible in front of audiences and on camera. This version features increased sensitivity for distance miking and positions the acoustic guitar mount and pickup on the center hole of this instrument. In addition, the 5' cable is hardwired to the mic and terminates with a 3.5mm connector for direct connection to Azden 31LT, 32BT, WLT-PRO, WM22, and WM-PRO wireless bodypack transmitters.

The I2 maintains excellent pattern control and frequency response at all angles. It offers uncolored recordings and reduced feedback issues.

Flexible close miking techniques are aided by the instrument mounts, which position securely and gently on the instrument for capturing audio.

Small size and sonic precision makes this microphone suitable for X-Y, M-S, and other techniques that rely on accurate, coincident positioning and consistent patterns.

The hypercardioid polar pattern has a narrower pickup pattern in its front than the cardioid polar pattern. It offers better rejection of ambient noise and the working distance is about twice that of the omni polar pattern. The hypercardioid has a small "pickup lobe" directly behind the microphone and exhibits maximum rejection areas behind and to the sides (about 60 degrees away from the rear of the microphone on either side) of the mic. The hypercardioid pattern works best when the loudest unwanted sounds—like speakers—can be positioned in these nulls.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How do I record sound with this mic?

A: Hi,, good question. You see that tiny end there... you would buy the appropriate cord in the length you want to fit the input you choose. The wireless systems do different ends. Probably with a high-end product many opt for a wireless unit. Also, you need phantom power since it has no battery to boost the signal. All that is normal for quality audio. I have a plug in unit that supplies phantom power and I have a battery unit which was $20 I think. Yes, it seems like a lot to worry about. Those wireless units do it all in one. A mic like this can have an xlr end. They make it so you buy the end you want to have for this mic. In my case I have the phantom power in my sony recorder, too. The way to sync camera (poor) audio and recorder audio is with a program such as Red Giant Plural Eyes; that is worth owning. Hope this helped. Good audio to a must. No one wants to listen to poor audio. in school they taught us that audio is the one attribute that must be good or else...

Q: 2. Will I need an adapter to use this mic with my canon 7d mark ii camera? If so which one please? Thank you

A: Yes you will need an adapter : Rode MiCon 1 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones (Sennheiser)

Q: 3. Our audio connection (to a PC) would have to be about 25 feet. Will that be a problem?

A: No problem we are using this Microphone array about the same length that you will be using and it dose work great. The array dose need phantom power to operate and as long as you can get a 1/8 inch female to male extension cable in the length that you need you should be good to go. Also try to keep it away from any AC vents as it will pick the air coming out of the vents. I hope this helps.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G4?

A: Yes, this is compatible with the EW100 system transmitters.

Q: 5. Does this come with a UK adapter?

A: Thi item is sold as a 120VAC 60hZ product only.

Q: 6. My friend gave me his but neither him or I know if it has to have a specific program to work, does it? And can I just plug it in and will it work for iPhone 6plus voice memo?

A: It will need an adapter from Rode to convert it to work with the iPhone. I have found this to be a very good mic.

Q: 7. Is this the same mic that comes with the RodeLink?

A: Yes it is, but the Lavalier included with the Filmmaker Kit is already fitted with the Micon 1 connector. You will need to buy that separately with this stand-alone model.

Q: 8. I assume this is a set of 2. Is it possible to get both in one color?

A: These Countryman tie clips are currently only sold in this configuration.

Q: 9. How can I wire this instead of using it wirelessly? I know this thing needs power and it won't work when I plug it into a camera with an adapter.

A: You can use the Rode MiCon 2 Connector for Rode MiCon Microphones (B&H # ROMICON2 / MFR # MICON-2) which will allow you to connect the Rode lavalier mic directly to a 3.5mm TRS mic input on a DSLR or mirrorless camera or a portable recorder and use plug-in power supplied by the input of the camera or recorder.

Q: 10. can this be adapted to connect to my mixer? Is it compatible with phantom power?

A: You can use an adapter such as the Rode VXLR Plus (B&H # ROVXLRP) to connect the Sennheiser MKE Essential omnidirectional lavalier microphone to your mixer. The MKE Essential requires plug-in power and the VXLR Plus adapter can be used to convert the 3.5mm locking plug to XLR and it also converts phantom power from the mixer to plug-in power for the mic.
