The black Countryman E6X Omnidirectional Earset Mic, Standard Gain with Detachable 1mm Cable and 3.5mm locking Connector for Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom Portable Recorders is a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i earset that features a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom and is suitable for use when a few people will be using the same mic.

The E6X earset can be used on either ear for capturing audio and rejecting unwanted sound, feedback, or surrounding noise from stage monitors or nearby speakers in houses of worship, theater, and outdoor vocal and speech applications.

The low-profile, omnidirectional E6X earset virtually disappears against the skin, so performers will forget they're wearing a mic. This version offers the highest gain for general speaking such as presentations or sermons. In addition, the earset comes with three protective caps with different high-frequency response characteristics that control the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz). This omnidirectional E6X earset's cable terminates to a 3.5mm locking connector for direct connection to Olympus, Roland, Sony, Tascam, Yamaha, or Zoom DM-420, DM-520, DM-620, DS-2400, DS-40, DS-51, DS-61, DS-71, LS-10, LS-14, R05, R09HR, PCM-D50, PCM-M10, DR-05, DR-07mkII, DR-08, PR-10, Pocketrak C24, Pocketrak W24, H1, H2, and H2n portable recorders.

The Countryman earsets are very small, lightweight, and the least visible headworn microphones.

The E6 Flex or E6X offers a versatile blend of the E6 and the E6i. With a springy, thin earpiece and a flexible boom, the E6 Flex is secure on the ear and fast to fit without compromising true invisibility and sound.

The E6X's stainless steel boom is tough and can be bent and re-bent to fit different performers. It is highly resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps. The earset should always have a protective cap in place to keep sweat, makeup, and other foreign material out of the microphone.

The E6X earset's flexible boom is easily shaped right on the performer's face. Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. This omnidirectional version includes three protective caps—+4 dB (bright), +8 dB (very bright) and +0 dB (flat)—that controls the amount of crispness or sibilance (response at 15 kHz.)

Easy adjustment keeps the mic in a comfortable position for rejecting unwanted sounds. The omnidirectional E6X earset provides more isolation and is suitable for situations where there are loud monitors, extreme feedback, or environmental noise.

The included removable, quick-swap cable detaches from the actual earset, making it completely replaceable in the event of a short or break. The replaceable cable design makes upgrading wireless microphone systems easy as they are available in a wide selection of connections to accommodate most wireless transmitters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If you had to do it again, would you still buy this over the cos-11d?

A: The Sony ECM-77 Miniature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking Sony 3.5mm Connector and Sanken COS-11D Lavalier Microphone are both high-quality, professional microphone choices. Selection between the two is mostly a matter of personal preference but can also be influenced by application, continuity, and compatibility.

Q: 2. Will this mic work with the Sony UTX transmitters? Looks like the same connection.

A: The Sony ECM V1BMP features a locking 3.5mm jack that is compatible with the UTX bodypack transmitters.

Q: 3. Does this come in beige?

A: No, the Sony ECM-V1BMP is only available in black. We do offer other lavalier microphones in beige finish for Sony UWP transmitters such as the Microphone Madness MM-PSM-L Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Select Sony Systems (B&H # MIPSMLSFBE) and Countryman B3 Omni Lavalier Mic, Standard Sens, with 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony Wireless Transmitters (B&H # COB3W4LSN).

Q: 4. Will this work with the sony UTX-B03 transmitter?

A: Yes this lavalier is wired for all Sony transmitters including the UTX-B03

Q: 5. Will this mic work with Rode wireless pro transmitter?

A: The Sony ECM-V1BMP Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking Sony 3.5mm Connector is not compatible with the Rode Wireless Pro transmitter. Sony 3.5mm connectors are wired differently from other 3.5mm microphones, and will only work with devices specifically stating compatibility with Sony 3.5mm locking connectors. The Rode Wireless Pro uses a Sennheiser-style 3.5mm locking connector.

Q: 6. Is the 4-pin Hirose connector the same as a Sony 4-pin connector, for example on the DWT-B01 transmitter?

A: Yes, this mic is compatible with that Sony transmitter. It's pretty decent, too!

Q: 7. I have a wireless lavalier mic system. The microphone is model sony emc77BMP and the receiver is sony wrt 805.It is not working well, since it catches a lot of interference when recording on longer distances that 30cm, and especially in the city, and as such the wireless part of the system is practically useless for me, but the lavalier mic is very good, and I want to connect it directly to my field-recorder a Tascam DR-40. The input in the recorder is XLR, while the lavalier has a jack (male). I need an adaptor from jack to XLR, and I am wondering about 2 things:1) The adaptor should be a jack (female) to a XLR (male), but is anything else needed, like a converter of electric tension between the lavalier and the field-recorder, or does the lavalier connect directly to the field-recorder?2) The field-recorder offers different settings for recording. One option is to record directly, and one option is to record using phantom-power. Which option should I use when connecting the lavalier directly to the field-recorder via an adaptor (omitting the wireless receiver and emitter system)?

A: The lav can plug directly into the DR 40. All you will need is a 3.5mm to XLR adapter and phantom power from the recorder. Then you can plug the lav directly into the XLR mic input on bottom of the DR 40. B&H # QUQAD2 see below.

Q: 8. Could this microphone also be used with the Tascam DR-70D?

A: Phantom power via the XLR jack ranges from 12v to 48v. The power required and delivered through mini jack connections is called Plug In Power' and is generally 1 volt to 10 volts. The Tascam is able to provide Plug In power through its mini jack mic input, however the ECM77BMP is designed for use with Sony wireless transmitters only. Not designed to connect to recorders. it has a locking connector that may not make full contact in a standard jack, and also may not be wired correctly.

Q: 9. Hello, Is this mic compatible with the UWP-D21 system?

A: Yes, the Sony ECM-77 Miniature Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone with Locking Sony 3.5mm Connector is compatible for use with the Sony UWP-D21 wireless system.

Q: 10. I use the UWP-D11, it says it came with the V1BMP mic. But the description of this mic does not indicate if the jam screws on. The other Sony lave mic, EMC 44 BMP does say the input will screw on. A) is this the mic that came with my system? Or is the description incorrect? I would like to use the same mic. Thank you in advance.

A: The Sony ECM-V1BMP style mic WILL screw onto your mic transmitter unit. The Sony ECM-44-BMP will not screw onto to anything. . .you must attach the XLR connector of your choice yourself. Hope this helps. Dave/austin
