Q: 2. Can this be used with ultra throw projectors?

A: The Kodak 80" 16:9 Tripod Projector Screen (Matte White) BH #KO80T169PSMW would not be the best choice for use with UST projectors. When used with a UST projector, set the lamp brightness to low or eco mode.

Q: 3. Please clarify, both in the reviews and Q&A users have said they have used this lens on aps dsrl´s, nevertheless staff members said it´s only good for mirrorless cameras. I am confused, are we talking about two different 40mm lenses? Or it is intended for the mirroless K-01 but still works on a dslr? I intend to use it with a Pentax K10d. Thanks for your time.

A: Hi, this lens is compatible with the Pentax K10d.

Q: 4. Does this lens have manual mode or is it just automatic for the aperture?

A: This is not an ancient lens. Aperture is set within your DSLR Camera settings for this particular lense. Your DSLR mostly like has a manual mode.

Q: 5. Will this lens work on an older Pentax film body such as a P3 or an MZ-50? I know the fstop needs to be set by the camera, and that the focal length will be, I presume, 35mm, I'm just concerned about the mount and connection with the contact info.

A: It will definitely heavy heavy vignetting. The lens is designed to cover the 18-24mm aps-c sensor size not the 24-36mm full frame of 35mm film. The corners of the images will be very dark.

Q: 6. I lost the t-knob that tightens the boom to the stand. Is there a link to the replacement part? Thank You.

A: The replacement knob for the stand adapter of this boom is the Matthews 5/16 Knurled T-Knob B&H # MAT516K. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 7. Will this work with a K-50?

A: The 35mm DA L F2.4 lens works fine with the K-50. It provides a close to normal perspective like a 50mm on a full frame camera. However, I don't find the image quality quite as good as I get with Pentax's Limited series of lens. Not surprising since the Limited lens are more expensive.

Q: 8. Will this work on my old Asahi Pentax K-1000?

A: No. It will mount and you can manually focus, but youd have no aperture control. This lens has no aperture ring and is meant solely for electronically controlled cameras. I still have my old K-1000a fine camera!

Q: 9. Should I use a lens hood with this lens?

A: Keeping flare or ghosting light away from a lens's front element is always a good idea. Here is an affordable shade. Sensei PRO 49mm Aluminum Lens Hood B&H # SELHM49.

A: Definitely. I use 5 and/or 10 lb. Boa sandbags as counterweights.

I bought this for the field of view since with an APS-C format chip (Pentax K-50) it covers the same angle as a 50mm prime with full format sensors (or film). I expected good performance from other reviews but was blown away by the image quality. I do a lot of night sky imaging (DSLR and CCD) so the first thing I did was test it in the basement with an artificial star at about 30 feet distance. Wide open the images were pin-point sharp in the center and corners. When I shot some pictures a few nights later from a nearby farm the quality was really excellent. So good in fact that I wished I had brought along my little tracking platform instead of just a tripod. Later, after our first snow when the daytime skies cleared I shot snow covered branches against a deep blue sky. While the lens stopped down to about f/8 I was still very impressed by the image quality. Bottom line: This lens is now the one I leave on the camera all the time. My new 18-250mm zoom is, of course, ideal for vacations and as a general walk-about lens. But the Pentax DA L 35mm f/2.4 is my new preferred baby. Plastic mount and body? No biggee to me since we build airplanes out of it. Very, very good value.

I really love this lens. Great for traveling and taking pictures where there isn't a lot of space.

I bought this lens with a Sigma 30mm f1.4. I only bought this lens as B&H was selling it discounted at the time of purchasing, so bought it out of curiosity. My Sigma had to be sent away to be calibrated, so played with this lens while i was waiting for my Sigma to return. I really love this lens, i have used the Sigma a few times since it return, but this is the lens i use. This lens is a little gem.

Needed a cheap normal lens to leave on for general walking around and was trying to decide between this lens, one of the pancake 40mm variants, a 50mm of some sort, or a Sigma fast normal AF lens. Although they all perform pretty well, I'm glad I picked this one and don't feel any need for another small normal lens. The 35 2.4 is small and light weight, with a plastic mount and screw drive autofocus. This might not be what everyone is looking for, but I find it to be perfect for a lightweight, always ready, travel lens that doesn't leave me worried too much about being out in the wild with something more precious. Autofocus is fast, but a bit buzzy sounding like most screw drive lenses. Not obnoxious. It gets where it is going in no time though, which makes the sound a lot more palatable. The lens is super sharp. At f/4.0 or f/5.6 the lens is as sharp as any. It is magnificent. At wider apertures the sharp image seems to be superimposed with more and more glowy unsharpness like most fast lenses. At f/2.8 the image is still enjoyable but leaving this lens at f/4 for street use has been very rewarding. Absolutely love it.

This is probably the best lens I have. Fantastic colors, sharpness and level of details it capture - exceptional IQ. The 35 mm in ok .. still a bit wide for indoors but can capture most of the shots.

This is another low-cost Pentax DA lens that I tested extensively on a rented full-frame K-1, with a rented excellent Sigma 35/1.4 ART as the comparison lens. The Sigma did very well, of course, but careful review of the same shots taken with the Pentax 35/2.4 showed that the Pentax lens produced images that met expectations for the 36MP sensor and were nearly as good as those made with the Sigma. Although construction quality is merely adequate, this inexpensive lens performed nearly on par with the Sigma 35/1.4 overall and is a much better value. For the moment, at least, I'll stick with my known-good copy of the Pentax 35/2.4 on a K-1.

Surprised by this little lens. It as good as any crazy expensive lens... at a budget price. Super sharp, beautiful bokeh, and f2.8 for low light.
It is a bit noisy and plastic-y feeling but the glass is not. Pro level lens. Too inexpensive to pass up. I am glad i bought it! 35mm is also a great focal length to have in your arsenal.

This is an awesome lens for the price. What impresses me is how lightweight it actually is. For those transitioning from the 18-55 kit lens, you will note exceptionally fast focusing and edge-to-edge sharp/crisp images. Having this lens on the K-7 camera reminds me of the days in college when I carried a Pentax MX with a 50mm lens around my neck all the time. For the price, you can't go wrong.
