A: Magnification in telescopes and spotting scopes is calculated by division. So a 20mm eyepiece will have a greater angle of view than a 10mm or 5mm.

Q: 6. is this eyepiece good for long range birdwatching?

A: I use mine for astronomy with telescopes. But I think 20mm is going to be too wide for most long range birdwatching. For birdwatching I use a Swarovski 95mm spotting scope which has magnifications of 30x - 70x. This 20mm eyepiece only has a magnification of 31x with a 100mm scope. So I'd recommend a much shorter focal-length eyepiece than 20mm. Shorter focal-length eyepieces give greater magnification. So a 10mm might be better for long-range birdwatching. These eyepieces are very nice on telescopes. I assume they're very nice on spotting scopes too.

Q: 7. taking photos through the zoom?

A: You can get a photo adapter to do so. Sometimes you can get distortion when using the eyepieces to take photos. I would recommend shooting through the scope.
