The 49mm UV Thin HD MC Filter from H&Y Filters is a general-use, clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. This UV filter features tempered, AGC glass that includes 18 layers of coatings to prevent internal ghosting and reflections as well as to provide an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

To minimize the potential for vignetting while remaining lightweight, this 49mm UV Thin HD MC Filter also features a durable, 1.1mm thick aluminum alloy filter ring.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this filter work well with DSLR's as well as digital camcorders?

A: Yes, Hoya UV filters are an excellent choice for DSLRs and digital camcorders.

Q: 2. Lens cap to fit the mefoto 49 mm uv

A: Of course. It is no different if u didnt have the filter.

Q: 3. Can I use this with all canon cameras?

A: You can use this with all cameras on the planet, provided the lens accepts 55mm filters. the filter's diameter (55mm) must match that of the lens (filter diameter is mentioned in the front of the lens).

Q: 4. What material is the ring made of? The other two B+W 67mm uv filters list being made from brass.

A: The B+W UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter (62mm) does have a brass ring.

Q: 5. Is there a place where I can just buy the plastic case shown in pictures?

A: Unfortunately, we dont carry that filter case separately. You could look at the B+W Plastic Filter Case D. It would be able to accommodate a circular filter up to 82mm.

Q: 6. Has anyone used this filter with an ultrawide lens? Is it thin enough to use on my 11-20mm?

A: You will not have any problems with vignetting when using this filter on the 11-20mm lens.

Q: 7. How does the VU compare with the B+W?

A: Both brands are rated very high as filters go. And within each brand there are ones that are multi-coated and not. In general it is important that a filter be multi-coated. That helps limit flair. Optically they again are very good but some prefer B+W over the other. And just a note that the specific Vu filter does not have front threads.

Q: 8. Is this filter threaded on the outside at 77mm to accept additional filters? For example...Lens Hoya UV 77mm ND

A: The Hoya Pro 1 Digital UV filter has front threads for filter stacking.

Q: 9. What is the difference between the b + w basic uv haze filter and the master uv haze filter?

A: The UV-Haze #010 MRC MASTER Filter would have a better coating against dirt and water versus the UV-Haze #010 BASIC Filter.

Q: 10. Can a polarizing filter fit over the UV?

A: It should. Most filters have a female and male thread. So essentially you could stack many filters on top of one another. Obviously though there'd be some loss.
