The Tiffen 67mm Warm Linear Polarizer Filter can be applied to create a warm cast over an entire image while helping to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

The warming effect of this filter can be obtained under daylight when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected. This filter's overall coloration reflects a mired shift value of +45.

A linear polarizer differs from a circular polarizer in that it does not contain an additional quarter wave plane. The addition of a quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, in-camera auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

This filter is recommended when not using in-camera exposure metering or autofocus, is non-coated, and has approximately 40% average light transmission. It is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring that can be rotated in order to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light

Can add a warm cast over an entire image when used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors

Polarizing effect is strongest when used at a 90° angle from the sun

Recommended when not using in-camera exposure metering or autofocus

Non-coated

Approximately 40% average light transmission

3x filter factor reduces exposure by 1.6 stops

Constructed from optical glass for clarity and color fidelity

Made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch

Aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight

Filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect

67mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters

Plastic filter case for storage and transport

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the lens cap attach to this filter when on the lens?

A: You should be able to.

Q: 2. Will the 112mm filter fit on Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8 lens?

A: Yes, the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (112mm) will mount to the Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens' (Canon RF), BH #CA10030028RF, front filter threading.

Q: 3. Will the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter - 58mm fit my Nikon 50mm 1.4D lens, not the 1.4G, but the 1.4D lens? Thanks.

A: Nikon AF NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4D Lens accepts 52 mm and not 58 mm filters. Please get the Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (52mm) BH #NICP52 • MFR #2233.

Q: 4. Best polarizing lens filters

A: This is for asking a question about this product. At a minimum, you'll need to add a verb and a question mark.

Q: 5. Will I need a filter wrench to remove this filter or does it screw on?

A: This filter will be screwed on by hand. Take care not to turn it more than necessary, as it can get stuck if too much force is used.

Q: 6. Will this fit on my Nikon 5300 lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II AF-S DX NIKKOR)? Thanks

A: Assuming the lens threads are 52mm, it will work.

Q: 7. Does this have a front filter thread for an additional filter?

A: Yes, Nikon 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter II has 95mm front and back threads. You can connect additional filters or lens caps infront of the filter.

Q: 8. Can this filter be used in the holder for a 300 f2.8 VR II lens?

A: Yes.

Q: 9. Is this the correct polarizer to use with the Nikon F6 film camera?

A: Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (77mm) is compatible with the Nikon F6 camera if you have a lens on it that accepts 77mm filters.

Q: 10. Can you address the review comment about the effect of water on the coating? My filters need to withstand water droplets for more than 60 seconds.

A: Unfortunately, we are not privy to the technical specifications of the coating employed by Nikon or its limitations. The review in question mentioned a technical question answered by their technical team directly that we are simply not able to ascertain. Please contact the manufacturer directly for more information.
