Cinestill Film Cs41 Color Stabilizer Final Rinse For 24 Rolls

The CineStill Cs41 C-41 Color Stablizer Final Rinse contains a surfactant -to prevent water form drying on the film and leaving spots- and Hexamine or Miconazole, which prevent fungus growth. Although Cinestill's C-41 development chemistry makes a conventional stabilizer bath redundant, it's nevertheless good practice to use a final rinse bath to prevent organisms from growing in your emulsion, since processed color film does not contain silver which is naturally anti-microbial. This 20 oz bottle of chemistry is rated to last for approximately 24 rolls.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How many sheets of 4x5 film can be processed, loaded in a Combi-Plan T daylight tank?

A: About 25 ~ 30 sheets 4X5 film depending on dev time, temp etc.

Q: 2. If I'm working with expired 120 film, will the developing times change?

A: Typically not, maybe if any a little more time but its best to run a test roll to see where you stand.

Q: 3. Can this stabilizer also be used as a final wash on black and white film?

A: Using the CineStill Film Cs41 Color Stabilizer Final Rinse for washing black and white film is not recommended.

Q: 4. Can I develop B&W C41 with this? Like Ilford HP5+?

A: The CineStill Film Cs41 Powder Developing Kit is specific to process C-41 like most color negative film. It is not compatible to use it to process., Ilford HP5 Plus Black and White Negative Film.

Q: 5. Can I travel with this in my suitcase when flying?

A: Due to the warning labels (health hazard and exclamation label), it might be classified as hazardous materials by the FAA/TSA and are likely not permitted as carry-on OR check-in items. Please contact the FAA, your carrier, and this website for more information or to get approval before your flight. https://www.faa.gov/hazmat/packsafe/

Q: 7. Hi there. If my Cinestill pack got hot in the mail are the chemicals still usable? Thanks!

A: They should be fine, powder is much more resilient than liquid.

Q: 8. Does this include stabilizer?

A: It does not have a stabilizer but if you are shooting modern color negative film, a "stabilizer bath" is not necessary. Up until the mid 90's, the final rinse bath in the C-41 process was called a "stabilizer bath," since it contained Formaldehyde or Formalin. Modern color film emulsions include chemical stabilizers within the film emulsion itself.

Q: 9. Can this be used as stabilizer for E-6 processing?

A: CineStill Film Cs41 Color Stabilizer Final Rinse for 24 Rolls is only compatible with color negative processing, not color positive processing, such as E-6.

Q: 10. How long does the chemical last once mixed?

A: According to the manufacturer, a mixed solution that is tightly capped and stored in an appropriate container can last for 8-12 weeks.

Great instructions. I have developed my 12th roll of film and all has gone well so far. This with the TCS1000 makes the whole process very straightforward.

Will admit I was intimidated at first, but the instruction are as clear and concise. It was really fun to development my first roll of color film at home. I highly recommend this chemistry given it came with instructions and video material online. Cinestill really makes all of it accessible for us new to color film development. It really helped that I used the Cinestill TCS 1000 to control my temps with these. Not required but helped to allow me to not have to worry about maintaining temps. I would recommend

I was really excited to get this and try it out. I have to say that the instructions are spot on and it is a true joy to use and process your film. I like that they offer it in powder form (it mixes well and fast) as for one you don't have to worry about shipping and two you can stick up without having to worry about shelf life. Highway recommend

Better overall as a home solution than their CS6 E6 kit. I've had great luck with this developing Kodak Portra. Prefers an inversion tank.
