The ne4400m from Ashly is a 4 input, 4 output network enabled digital signal processor that offers ease of use, setup and control using standard 10/100 Ethernet protocol and Protea NE software. No special outboard control units are needed. The DSP signal processing library is extensive and utilizes multiple SHARC processors.

Processing blocks include an 8 x 8 matrix mixer, a full complement of variable Q graphic and parametric EQ, up to 8th-order Butterworth, Bessel, Linkwitz,and Notched-Linkwitz crossover filters, and an advanced automatic feedback suppressor. Also included are autolevelers, compressors, matrix duckers, limiters, frequency-keyed noise gates, time delay up to 1365ms on every channel, sinewave, pink noise and white noise generators.

All programming is accomplished using Ethernet or RS-232 protocol and the Protea NE software running under Windows. Hot-plug software control allows for plugging any function into any channel block even when running live audio with no latency or recompiling necessary. Automatic DHCP network IP configuration reduces network set up time. No front panel controls and multi-level software security with password access assures a tamper-proof audio system.

The ne4400m includes 4 microphone inputs with software switchable +48V phantom power and preamp gain. The microphone inputs are in addition to the 4 line inputs (cannot be used simultaneously).

A: No, the Polsen XP-2 2-Channel Microphone Signal Booster does not pass phantom power and as a result is not compatible with condenser microphones.

I use Unveil as a plugin for Edius 7.31. Mostly I use it to improve speaches recorded in churches. It works realy great. Unfortunately Edius must run as an administratur for the plugin to work (v 1.6) But according to Zynaptiq support, they will fix it in the next Version. 5

Adding this card to Ashly Digimix24 will release the full power of the mixer, allowing you to use all input/output channels in your PC/DAW/iPad. It works flawlessly, and my only minor complaint might be that the latency is not as low as e.g. my RME UCX, but still in the very close to it and in the unnoticeable side of things (about 5-6mS full duplex). This also has to do with the sample rate used (48KHz), while UCX can go up to 192KHz, which reduces latency further. All things considered, I suggest Ashly USB-32 without a second thought! Service of B&H was also awesome, arriving to the other end of the world (New Zealand) in very short time and without issues! 5

It is an advanced processing signal plugin. Through complicated algorithms it is possible to identify, separate and isolate the reverberation and spatial component of a mixed audio signal. The result is impressive a more clear and more presence of the voice and the instruments. When you are working on tracks this plugin can modified the punch of the drums and increase the presence of the voice. In the bass and guitar tracks brings more clarity. 5

I used this plugin on some dialogue in a movie I have just finished and I was surprised just how well it cleaned up the unwanted room sound on the microphone. Well worth the money. 5

Nothing in it's price class comes even close. This unit is rock solid, easy to use, and offers great flexibility. It can be used as a delay, crossover, eq, limiters, and many other audio needs. With 4 ins and 8 outs, the setup can be almost endless. You can use outputs 1 & 2 as Master LR, outputs 3 -6 for delay lines, and 7 & 8 as a biamped monitor send. I would definitely spec and install this unit on any of my installations. 5

I use this product in our committee rooms, legislative house, and senate chambers. It is very easy to add and network together for the perfect control. It would be nice to have a web connect feature for internet remote access control (hint, hint). 5
