The Sony BP-U100 is a high-performance 97Wh lithium-ion battery compatible with select Sony professional video cameras, such as the FS7 (see below). It's designed to communicate status data to the camera, and remaining capacity is displayed on the camera's viewfinder. This battery is rechargeable in approximately 210 minutes using the optional BC-U1A/U2A charger. A 4-LED gauge displays remaining capacity as 20, 40, 60, and 80%.

Q: 7. how long will a BPU-60 run an FS7?

A: Running the zoom, monitor and also recording you should have no problem getting an hour out of the battery.

Q: 8. What is the difference between Sony NPF970 and BPU70 battery. Sony has discontinued NPF batteries in their website, So what is the alternative for NPF970?

I have been wanting a camera battery that wouldn't die after two hours for several years. When I found this one and read the various reviews on it, I decided to purchase. It is similar to the battery that came with my Sony FS5, only larger. I love that it has a Empty -Full charge light indicator! It fits perfectly inside my camera, only a 1/4 inch outside the battery pocket. The weight is a little more (maybe 1/2 a pound more weight) but that is acceptable for the plus of longer battery life! It does take an hour or so to charge. But as I usually charge my camera batteries over night, it's not an issue. It works perfectly for me! 5

The Sony BP-U60 should be considered the standard, internal battery for a Sony FS5. The FS5 comes with a U30 sized battery, which is only good for 1.5 hours or less. In general, I use a large V-mount video battery in the field, but a smaller battery is fine for run and gun applications. It also serves as a seamless backup if I need to swap the V-mount battery. 5

Sony does a good job updating there batteries, since purchasing my new Sony FX6 I was a little skeptical and had hoped that this new range of batteries would hold up as well as the last ones for my FS5. These do give you about 300 min give or take. You can't ask for anything more than that. I'm very happy with my purchase! 5

As always, Sony Batteries deliver a solid performance. Other non Sony batteries don't deliver the long recording time and loose recording time half way through. This battery delivers the total time advertised with no dropping off in power half way through the estimated power usage time. 5

I've been using Sony batteries for years. When they were out of stock due to availability issues, I went with a third party manufacture. BIG Mistake! If your using a Sony camera, use Sony batteries. They will last you much longer and won't lose charge as fast. 5
