The unit is ideal for telephone interviews, transcription applications, weather and traffic reports, Ad creation and proofing and more. The Voice Path connects between the headset and telephone base, allowing passage of send and receive telephone audio. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have had this unit for a few years; loved it in the beginning, but then....people (on the other end) would have trouble hearing me. Maybe it's my phone line. I have it plugged in to my Mackie 1402- VLZ Pro mixer and I'm told that there's an echo (that mix minus thing..I'm guessing). What can I do to remedy that?

A: You can get a mix minus from an aux bus. Send the aux to the hybrid and pot up everything but the hybrid on that aux bus.

Q: 2. Does this unit work with digital landlines? I bought a Rolls P19 Patch 11 and it does not work with my Shaw Cable landline.

A: I was going to answer this but B and H will not allow me to provide the address and phone number of the manufacturer so you're on your own, though luck.

Q: 3. I'm looking for a way to input a voice message, which has been processed in iZotope software, onto a standard answering machine, with the goal of having a clean outgoing message. Is the JK Audio AutoHybrid interface the way to achieve this? If not, what device would do the job? Thanks....

A: This should work for your proposed application.

Q: 4. How can I pass The phone conversation to the computer

A: i'm sorry i didnt use it with a computer. i dont know the answer

Q: 5. Looking to use interface for phone interviews for radio broadcast and recording. I notice the XLR port is not standard...will this call for an adapter or different cable?

A: Hi. I have one of these units. May I ask, what you mean by not standard? What connector do you need? There is a 3 pin female XLR for audio into the unit and a 3 pin male XLR for audio out of the unit. They are below the keypad.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with a landline that has a detached(unattached) hand set with no jack?

A: No, this is intended to be used with a landline phone with a wired handset.

Q: 7. Does it accept an rj45 port and do you have to contact the I.T. department to allow the device on their network?

A: The Compak does not have an RJ-45 but if you have a network phone system, keep the base of phone connected into network via the RJ-45 jack. Replace the handset from said phone with the JK Audio Compak. The Compak will now act as a handset and will require no special access because the base station phone is already connected into the network.

Q: 8. What is the best method to record digital audio (MP3) from telephone interviews using this device? Should it be connected directly to a PC or a digital recording device, like an Olympus recorder? If to PC, is there a specific software to use to record the audio input? If digital recorder is the better option, is there a recommended recorder to use? Finally, what kind of cable should be used to connect the THAT-2 device to the digital audio recording device (PC or digital recorder). Thanks!

A: I connect the THAT-2 to a digital audio recorder using a female XLR-to-male 3.5mm adapter cable (Kopul LMT-100). The 3.5mm plug goes into the mic socket of my small Olympus or the Line-In sockets of larger recorders. After recording, I copy the audio file to my computer for editing or replaying. I suppose one can recorder directly to a PC but I have not done that.Good luck.

Q: 9. Can this be used with a Senn G3 or G2 wirelesss?

A: The XLR output on the Quicktap IFB is a mic level signal. it can be connected to a G2 or G3 model transmitter with the proper cable such as the Sennheiser CM-1 https://bhpho.to/2il527i

Q: 10. I would like to know if this unit does its own mix minus. I intend to use it with a sound device 302 so no auxiliary sends are available.thanks

A: The JK Audio Auto Hybrid is a basic passive telephone interface. It features a line level input and output on XLR. It will need to be sent a mix-minus signal as there is no control on the unit itself.

I purchased this item to help me record the office phone system voice prompts. I had a professional actor read the prompts and I recorded and edited it with other equipment. I then played the sound files back from my computer into the phone system using this device. Worked perfectly. The only tricky part of the whole setup was figuring out what playback volume setting was best on my computer to not overload the phone system. I settled on about 80% and the audio was loud and clear without distortion. The only feature missing is that this device will only record or will play back at the same time. If you want to do both at the same time (in my case, hook it to a sound board to use a phone conversation on stage) you'll need one of JK Audio's higher end boxes. Recommend A+
