A: Definitely yes, the Pelican 1740 cases are stackable. To keep them from sliding around, four rectangular depressions in the lid exterior mate with four rectangular feet on the case bottom (which are like skids), and are very robust and road worthy. The two transport rollers will not interfere with stacking because of their designed placement.

A: Just went up to the attic to check this out. Th grooves do not have the same spacing and so although they do stack nicely if you push on the 1720 (on top) it will slide across the top of the 1740. If you were just stacking 2-4 it would probably be OK. If you were traveling or had more than a few they might fall if not secured.

As it makes it very difficult to load in and out of vehicles.

A: There are handles at each small end and there are none in the middle. This is not a small case, so loading into a vehicle is always a little bit of a hassle. To load in a vehicle, I roll up to the vehicle on the wheels and lean the front end into the back and then lift the rear of the case and push it into the vehicle. Sort of like a stretcher.

Q: 10. Does someone make padding for this case? I do not want foam, I have worn through the foam already and want to replace it with something better.

A: No other type of padding is made specifically for this case. Pelican foam is the only fitted, manufactured replacement.
