This 3-stop, 150 x 190mm Reverse Graduated ND Filter from ICE reduces exposure in selective areas of an image, making it well suited to shooting sunset images that saturate colors in the center of the image while retaining image detail in the sky and foreground. It reduces exposure by three stops without adding any color cast. The soft edges of the dense area of the filter blend the exposure correction smoothly without a harsh line of delineation. This filter is made of optical glass and fits filter holders that accept 150mm wide, 2mm thick filters.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do normal 77mm lens caps fit on this?

A: No you will need to purchase an 82mm cap.

Q: 2. Are Minimal = 2 stops and Max = 8 stops? How do I read the marks on the ring to know 2/4/8 stops?

A: When I am using the Eclipse I never worry about what stop I am using. What difference does it make? All I am interested in doing is getting it dark enough to be able to slow down my shutter speed so that I can get the effect I want. I never have to change filters if the 2 stop or 6 stop isn't enough, I just rotate the filter. Don't think about what number it is just use the the darkness you need. Hope this helps.

Q: 3. Is this filter stackable? And what does the 103M mean in the name?

A: Dear Sara, the filter is stackable. The front end is threaded and can accept another filter (or a snap-in cap). 103 (ND.9) means 3 stops compensation, just as 101 (ND.3) means 1 stop and 102 (ND.6) means 2 stops compensation.

Q: 4. Is this a glass or film filter?

A: The Ice 77mm Solar Mc Nd100000 (Includes Magnetic Adapter Ring) is a glass filter.

Q: 5. Is this filter, ND100,000 safe to photograph the sun? For a prolong period like a solar eclipse , 4-6 hours?

A: 4-6 hours is a lot. Usually an eclipse you take a photo that is fractions of a second. This ICE Magco Solar filter does not list reducing UV and infrared. If you plan on doing long exposures of the sun I recommend a filter that reduces UV and infrared like this one DayStar Filters 90mm White-Light Universal Lens Solar Filter https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1319794-REG

Q: 6. What's the weight of the filter Could it be used instead of the balancing ring needed for the X5S?(drone proposes).

A: Unfortunately we are not able to weigh products here, and it is not a provided specification from the manufacturer. It is recommended you contact the manufacturer for any more in-depth specifications such as this. But it is our guess that it would work very similarly to a balancing ring, though it is not an exact measurement.

Q: 7. I do not have a lot of experience with Neutral Density filters. I bought one that is a 10 stop, and I did not realize that I would not be able to see through it. So it is much more work setting up my shot. Will I be able to see through a 3 stop filter?

A: Put the camera on a tripod, manual focus then screw the the filter on carefully. Cover the viewfinder as light leaks on long exposure. Take the photo with a cable release or 2 second timerIt is for very long exposures for minute. Cool cloud effects. i doubt if you could see throu the 3 stop either. They all are for tripod use

Q: 8. Is it safe to view the solar eclipse through this filter and the view finder on my Canon 5D Mk IV?

A: The Ice Magco Solar ND100000 ND Filter with Magnetic Adapter Ring blocks 16.5 stops of light and is therefore safe for solar viewing.

Q: 9. I've got 3 Canon lenses each with 67mm on the filter end. Does it make any sense to buy 77mm Eclipse filter and a step-up ring 67-77 (just to cover the range of lenses that I maybe will plan to buy someday) ? I'm very afraid I can get vignetting with this setup because I often shoot with wide-angle (10-18mm focal length, APS-C). Or maybe the right way is to take 67mm model of Eclipse?

A: I purchased one Eclipse Variable ND filter and step up rings to use with my Nikkor lensesand have found it to be a good choice. Vignetting is not a problem for me and I have been pleased with the results. Especially in motion film work.

Q: 10. How thick are they? I want to stack them horizontally in a much larger case and apply Brother labels to each one. I anticipate needing 300+ for ALL my camera filters.

A: Each individual case's exterior dimensions are 11.8m (4.6") X 11.8m (4.6") x 1cm (0.4").
