Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with dual monitors using USB C to host instead of thunderbolt, if one monitor is HD the other is 4k?

A: If your system has a USB Type C port, it will support either 1 x 4K display at 30Hz or dual HD displays. It will not do both.

Q: 2. does this come with the power cord or do I need to purchase it in additional to the unit?

A: The CalDigit USB Type-C SOHO Dock does not include a power supply, but a USB Type-C cable is included. You don't need to connect the CalDigit USB Type-C SOHO Dock to wall power to use it, as it can run off of the host computers power, but if you want it to charge your laptop you would need to connect a USB-C power supply to the dock's power pass through USB-C port. If you don't already have a USB-C power supply you could get one like the Xcellon Mighty Mini 165 65W GaN USB Type-C Charger (Black)(BH #XCPDG165B).

Q: 3. Can I use this for my iMac 2023 M3 chip desktop?

A: Yes, the CalDigit USB-C SOHO Dock is compatible with your iMac.

Q: 4. Can I use this dock to access SD card and external USB c hard drive (e.g. Samsung T7) at the same time from an iPad pro?

A: Yes, with the CalDigit USB Type-C SOHO Dock you can connect an SD card and external drive to an iPad Pro at the same time.

Q: 5. Is this compatible the the corning 25m optical cable? I tried using the optical cable and this dock will not work. It works fine with the included thunderbolt cable. Any advice?

A: Only a USB-C cable should be used with the CalDigit USB Type-C Pro Dock.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with dual monitor support for m1 MacBook pro?

A: Yes, the CalDigit USB Type-C Pro Dock fully supports a dual screen setup on an M1 platform.

Q: 7. What power cable is supplied? Is the PSU linked with a kettle plug, figure 8 cable or does it mount directly into wall?

A: The supplied power is a power supply with one cable that connects to the dock and the other cable is the AC cable that connects to a wall outlet.

Q: 8. Can i use this dock to connect two monitors to my macbook pro?

A: Yes, the CalDigit USB Type-C SOHO Dock can work as long as your Macbook has a USB-C port and one of your monitors has HDMI and the other has Displayport.

Q: 9. Does this dock support dual-screen extending on MacOS, or only mirroring?

A: You are able to extend it to two additional monitors. Not only mirror but extension as well.

Q: 10. Can I connect Dual 4K monitors @60Hz from the new Mac mini M1 via this dock?

A: Yes, that can work if both monitors are using Displayport..

There are a number of USB-C docks out there - some cheaper made by other brands - but you get what you pay for with the TS3 from CalDigit. I use mine with an iMac because I got tired of always using the ports on the back of the display to connect drives, headphones, or when I just need to insert an SD card. Everything works great. Build quality is solid. What I especially like is the spring-lock SD card slot which you can feel and hear click when you insert an SD card. It's a small thing, but for someone like me who uses SD cards a lot, it's wonderful. Recommended!
