Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit the RF 85mm f/1.2?

A: The PortaBrace Pro-Level Padded Lens Cup with Strap for Canon EF 85mm Lens (Black) would be too small for the f1.2 RF lens. It was made for the Canon 85mm f1.8 EF specifically.

Q: 2. Is this lense compatible for 700d

A: I don't know for sure, but I bought it for my C300, and it will not attach to my 5D. Hope that helps.

Q: 3. I have 200 mm f/2L is usm lens. I need a lens cap for it. The cover it comes with me is awkward to have. Is there a cap that I can buy? I know it is a large lens - but I need a cap for it.

A: Yes: Try Amazon www amazon com/Don-Zeck-Lens-Cap-Lenses/dp/B002YRZLBA

Q: 4. Will this fit the Fujinon 50-140mm with the tripod collar attached?

A: The diameter of this case is not large enough for this lens with the tripod collar.

Q: 5. What are the interior dimensions of this lens cup?

A: The interior dimensions are 2.5" x 3.25" (manufacturer had erroneously posted interior dimensions under exterior denomination) the exterior are 2.7"x3.5"

Q: 6. Will it fit Canon EF 200-400 f4?

A: Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x Lens (Canon EF) is 14,41" long. The PortaBrace Padded Lens Cup for Pro Lenses (Extra-Large) is only 12". Consider instead the Lightware Z400 Long lens 400 Case BH #LIZ400 • MFR #Z400

Q: 7. Does the focus ring rotate when the camera auto-focuses? Do you need to keep your fingers off the focus ring? I read that in a review. Is that true?

A: Yes it is true. The focus ring does rotate.

Q: 8. I'm confused by a drop in filter. What is this? Is there a filter that matches besides a polarizing filter? That's the only one I see listed. Do I need to buy the drop in kit?

A: A lens like this does not have filter threads but does have an opening towards the back of the lens for a drop in filter. It comes with a holder for gelatin filters and it needs to be in the Lens at all times with or with you a gelatin filter.Canon makes a polarizing filter that fits without the included holder, http://bhpho.to/1dQ7bPyAnd they also make a holder that accepts most 52mm filters, http://bhpho.to/1dbubff . This is an example of some ND filters that are 52mm, http://bhpho.to/1dbwIpB

Q: 9. Will this fit my Nikon 18-140 mm AFS-DX lens or should I get a different size?

A: Yes, the Porta Brace 4" Padded Lens Cup (Blue Tab), B&H # POPB4LCB, would be compatible for use with the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens.

Q: 10. Will these fit a CP.2?

A: Yes, the Porta Brace Padded Cinema Lens Cup dimensions are 5.5 x 6 x 6" which is a good fit for Zeiss CP.2 lenses.

What can I say, this is the lens of lenses, Pricey, but you get what you pay for...

Very sharp. I guess if you are buying this lens you already know it's heavy. It's not so bad with the lens hood off. The lens almost doubles in size and becomes very conspicuous with the hood on. The hard case is nice if you plan to do a lot of air travel...it's just big enough to hold the lens although a lens mount plate can make closing the lid difficult. I would prefer a nice soft case that's more practical and I would be more likely to use. There's a Ruggard case...I think it's the Commando 36...that makes a great case for this lens. It's looks like it was designed to hold a sixpack of beer. It's easy to carry and the lens fits perfectly...and it's relatively inconspicuous. There's was one reviewer who complained about the standard issue gelatin filter holder. I agree with him...they should supply the screw in filter holder instead. By the way, just like the polarizing filter, there's an old and a new version. The old version seems to be permanently on back order, probably because Canon has no intention of making more of them. I finally discovered the newer Screw WII version which B&H had in stock. If it doesn't say Screw WII on the filter it's the old version. They look identical. The main difference is one is readily available, the other is not. The holder also comes with a 52mm Protect filter installed.

I have 12 L lens including the famous 85 f/1.2 L and the 300 f/2.8 . But 95% of the time I am using this lens and using it at f/2 . I shoot lots of environmental portraits in low light and as long as I have the room this is the only lens I use .

This lens is utterly remarkable thanks to the combination of brilliantly crisp focus on the subject, a flattering level of compression, and a gorgeous fall off of focus into buttery soft bokeh (a credit to it's quality construction and 2.0 maximum aperture). The bulk of the lens mounted on a 1DXmarkii is substantial, but nothing that a top-notch monopod and head can't alleviate. Nailing shots will take practice, particularly tracking fast action with such a razor-thin depth of field. But, a photographer who masters this lens can create art so unique and of such a high caliber that the lens is worth every penny. In a close comparison with the 135/2.0L and the 70-200/2.8L IS, the 200/2L was sharper at f/2.0 than the other lenses at f/2.8, showed more contrast (blacker blacks and whiter whites), vivid colors, lightning quick focus, and a more creamy background with no defined circles on the bokeh bubbles.
