Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this bag good choice for Canon 5D Mark II with battery pack, Canon 70-300 mm, Canon 100 mm Macro, Canon 20 mm lenses (all with hoods) or do you have better recommendation?

A: i really want to love this bag, but im not sold on it. i have a canon 700D. the bag is just the wrong shape for me. its kind of bulky and awkward. yes there is room for the camera, a zoom lens, and my purse, but its just so big! i dont think you could put the camera in with much else if you had the battery pack grip on. and the backpack strap doesnt really make it a backpack.

Q: 2. What is the diameter of the base? Is it heavy and stable?

A: It's about 14 inches and it is fairly heavy. I use this to mount a projector with a projector mount. It has been working very well for over a year now.

Q: 3. Can the phoenix connector be removed and another type installed?

A: The PHOENIX connector on the Hosa Technology PHX-206F-BULK Female Phoenix to 3-Pin Female XLR can be removed and replaced by a different type of connector, if so required.

Q: 4. What is the weight limit to this? It looks like the limiting factor is the clamp? Could I hang 4 360Qs?

A: Altman does not have a specific weight limit for this ladder but it can support up to four 360Q lights. But with any light it is best to use a safety cable on each one.

Q: 5. Can this light be left on continuously?

A: This would really depend on the details of what is meant by "continuously." For a variety of reasons an LED option would likely be the better solution for long-term use. This may be an application that would benefit from further discussion. If possible please contact me to go over the details. I can be reached by phone or email. -Tom Casazza 804-349-3453 tcasazza@altmanlighting.com

Q: 6. What's the footprint diameter of the Altman Wheeled Light Stand?

A: According to Altman, the length of the leg sections are 14.5 inches from the center of the stand. As the base is triangular in shape, not circular, I would say it takes up an area of approximately 25 x 25 .

Q: 7. What softbox or diffuser to use with this light? I am hanging it from the ceiling and need a softer shadow on my greenscreen and subjects.

A: For all my fresnel fixtures I always buy barndoors for them. This is essential for many reasons. If you can also buy a couple of filter holders that would be good also. I always keep a supply of media...color and various diffusion types. What I find most useful to soften lights is either half spun or a lite white frost. If you have filter holders to fit your light fixture just cut the media to fit and slide it into the slot provided. If you only have barn doors then you can cut the media larger and use C-47s(clothes pins-wooden) to attach the media between the large doors and cover the light beam. It is usually preferable to use the filter holder and that way the barn doors can still be used to cut the light beam and shape it to your subject.

Q: 8. Can this fit under an airline seat with a laptop and lenses?

A: Yes, it did fit under airline seat. I had a Nikon D7100 camera with one lenses attached and 2 separate lenses and an iPad Pro.

Q: 9. What is the weight capacity this can hold?

A: The load limit is 665 lb.

Q: 10. Is it possible to fit barn doors and a metal wire scrim in the slot at the same time?

A: It depends on the thickness. The barn doors' frame sits in the 65Q's gel holder nicely, but not tightly. You might be able to squeeze an eighth (1/8 ) inch of space out of it but not much more than that without modifications. As for modifications, a judicious use of a pair of pliers might allow you to slightly bend the 65Q's frame out enough to do what you need to do without too much change in cosmetics or function.
