Q: 1. Can this connect a microphone directly to a recorder? Such as, a Lewitt 140 air to a Sound Devices MixPre 3?

A: This could work for you, but that will probably put a lot of strain on the mic connectors. Using a longer cable, and mounting the mic on a stand, grip, or boom pole - will be a much better option.

Q: 2. I need to bring XLR audio directly into the Aja IO 4k (https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1025891-REG/aja_io_4k_10_bit_4k_uhd_sd_i_o_tb_2.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1025891-REG/aja_io_4k_10_bit_4k_uhd_sd_i_o_tb_2.html/a). Will this do the trick?I'm thinking I connect my condenser mic to a mixer where it gets phantom power, output with XLR cable to this adapter and plug this adapter directly into one of the SDI BNC connections on the IO 4k. Will that work? Thanks!

A: Sorry, but the AJA Io 4K I/O for Thunderbolt 2 B&H # AJIO4K has no analog audio input connectors, only analog outputs. In order that we may better assist you, please write us with further detail about what you want to do. provideo@bhphoto.com.

Q: 3. Does this product come in black?

A: No, Neutrik does not offer this adapter in black finish.

Q: 4. Does any other company make such an extender in black?

A: Unfortunately, we do not currently offer an option that is a 3-Pole XLR female to 3-Pole XLR male extension adapter in black.

Q: 5. Are these compatible with the phoenix connectors that LiteGear uses on its products?

A: In order to properly answer your question, please tell us what connectors you wish to use. provideo@bhphoto.com.

Q: 6. Will thes fit a Shure SCM810?

A: Yes, this is the right part.

Q: 7. Does this fit the Crest CKi series power amplifier?

A: The Crest CKi series uses barrier strip and 4-pin Phoenix connectors, so the Hosa Technology Phoenix 3-Pole Female Connector would not be a match.

Q: 8. Does Neutrik make female in-line 2-pole Neutrik connectors? This is obviously a male.

A: I hope this is what you are looking for: a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/838670-REG/neutrik_nl2mp_speakon_2_pole_male.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/838670-REG/neutrik_nl2mp_speakon_2_pole_male.html/a

Q: 9. B&H has Neutrik NC7FXB described as a 7-pole 3-pin connector. The photo shows a 3-pin connector. Is that correct? Or is it 7 pins?

A: That is correct, this is a 3-Pin Female XLR Connector. It has 7 contact points inside it, which is what 7-pole means.

Q: 10. How to connect a Phoenix 3 pole female, on one end, with an RCA male connector on the other end?

A: Easiest way is to take a RCA cable and cut one end off. Strip the ends and insert them into plus and negative ends on Phoenix. They are marked on the connector which is which. There will not be a ground, so make sure cable itself is under 18 feet.

About 2 years ago I started replacing the 1/4 inch connectors on my speakers with speakons, which have much greater contact area and therefore more efficient power transfer. The process continues.

The other evening while stacking speakers we had a little mishap, a couple of the guys where placing a 3-way on top of a sub when someone slipped. The speaker which weighs about 100 pounds hit the rear of the racked amp behind the sub smashing the speakON that was plugged into the amp.
As can be seen, the impact bent the steel rear panel of the amp outward, however neither the plug nor the jack it was plugged into where damaged.
I removed the plug and opened it to make sure the impact didn't pull the cable out but it was retained so tightly by the plug the cable didn't move at all.
Had something been damaged we would have had to swap out a amp and or cord, however because of the strength of the plug and connector that wasn't required saving a lot of time, when we had very little time to spare.
Time is money and those connector more than paid for themselves at that moment.

This was a very high quality item. but the description is waaaaay off. THIS IS A 7-PIN XLR CONNECTOR! These are difficult to locate, but the only difference from the pic is the number of pins (I would have preferred a screw latch, but that's okay) the pins are part of an assembly that can be removed, and are each clearly labeled/numbered ON THE FRONT AND BACK - no room for error on which pin is which! Pins appear to be gold plated and are swept, making it *very* easy to solder and assemble. Absolutely worth it.

I always wonder why we need another type of speaker connector besides the common spade and banana ones. This is my first time to use speakON and now I know why. Given the low impedance (4 or 8 ohms) of speakers, any reduction of resistance of wires and connectors would help. As for build quality, Neutrik is always the best you can find.
