Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is anyone storing hard drives in their cabinet?

A: Very good place to store drives especially if you live in a more humid climate.

Q: 2. How loud is the 80L version?

A: This would be virtually silent. No noise from this cabinet.

Q: 3. Good morning, Interested if the shelves are metal or plastic? Also, wanted to confirm the length of the cable. Thank you

A: The following unit is constructed of Glass, Steel. Ac adapter gives you a 6ft line.

Q: 4. I have two sony mirrorless, 1 bmd p4k, 1 sony fs700, about 67aspc and mft lenses, 8 batteries and chargers. Could it fit in this model?

A: Without actually getting the equipment and putting it in the cabinet there is not a way to be positive if it will fit all of your specific equipment. I do feel it is too much equipment for it. Best is to on the floor tape out the interior size of 11.3 x 11.4 rectangle. And then take equipment and place it in the taped area and see what fits. There are two shelves so you have three landings. And make note of the height of your equipment as the total interior height of the cabinet is 20.9".

Q: 5. Can you fit a Nikon 600mm f4 in this cabinet? Just the lens, no lens hood.

A: The Nikon 600mm f4 is 6.5 in. (166 mm) x 17.5 in. (445 mm) and this cabinet is 17.7 x 12.9 x 21.1 . So yes, but just barely. Either you'd have to leave out the shelf tray so you can stand the lens upright, or you'd have have to dedicate a whole level to just the lens.

Q: 6. What does this mean: Flexibility of infinite vertical adjustment? Can height between shelves be adjusted?

A: It looks like this unit is modulor and one can add or remove shelves as one wishes, it also looks like the height between shelves can be adjusted using the threaded rods according to Salamander,

Q: 7. How many bodies cameras and lens does it fit?

A: Impossible to answer since it depends on the size of your camera. You could fit dozens of Leica M-cameras or only 1 large format camera. I have a D810 w/portrait grip and 8 large lenses in mine.

Q: 8. I live in a city where humidity is around 75%. I have set the dehumidifier to 35% but it never gets to that percentage. It always stops around 39% and it can take up to 4/5 hours to get from 45 to 39%. And sometimes the humidity percentage goes up on its own. Is that normal?

A: Yes, it is normal for the Ruggard EDC-50L Electronic Dry Cabinet (50L) and pretty much all Dry Cabinets to take that long to lower the humidity it. And with the humidity outside at around 75% that is normal to not to get as low you as that and 39% is actually very good for one of these.

Q: 9. Can the vertical height between shelves be adjusted? I need to understand clearly if this is nonrefundable. Thanks.

A: No the height cannot be adjusted with this modular system.

Q: 10. do i need to drain the water?

A: No, the unit is set up to have the water evaporate into the air.

This dry cabinet works perfectly well. I like the Red Mahogany look a lot. The only regret I have is that I didn't get a bigger version because I already ran out of room. The shelves work great and being able to change where the shelves are located is huge. The dry cabinet starts removing moisture as soon as you close the door. There are only two cons: 1. If you lock the door, you can still pull on it and it opens slights before the lock blocks it. I wish the lock blocked you from opening it at all. 2. The humidity increases really fast if you have the door open for longer than 30 seconds. This is probably not something a dry cabinet can prevent though and is just natural in high humidity areas.

Seems to do a good job in maintaining a 40% humidity with minimum power usage.

Living in the Southeastern U.S. we have a very long hot and humid season. I know a lot of people think that if they have their AC on that provides enough protection against fungus in their lenses but it doesn't. Even with AC on humidity levels can be high enough for fungus growth. This 80L unit holds all of my gear, my wife's gear and some extras like filters, etc. plus a little point and shoot. If I run out of storage space in this unit I will buy another one. I keep it set at 45% and the readings tend to stay between 44% and 46%. It's built sturdy and you can level it with two of the feet but mine was already level. If you have any doubts at all about whether you are in a fungus prone area do yourself a favor and get one of these. You'll be glad you did. As always, B&H has what you need and their customer service is second to none. I've trusted them for a long time and you should too.

I installed it, let it sit for a day and put my lenses in.

Seems to work great, no noise from it.

Fits both cameras, all lenses (250x500, 70x300, 24x70, 100, 85, & 35) along with flash and batteries. No extra room, but it all fits. So far seems to be keeping humidity right where I set it. The LED lights are a bit bright at night, which only be a problem if you had the cabinet in a room that was used as a bedroom at anytime.
