Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Stupid question, how do you connect a strobe without the end being a baby pin connector? I've never owned a c-stand, so I'm unfamiliar. Thanks!

A: Every studio grade strobe I've ever had...Ascor, Speedotron, Broncolor or Buff has mounted directly to a standard C stand. On camera flash units will require an adapter or at least gaffer tape.

Q: 2. Can anyone tell me the actual weight of the Matthews 40 riser+turtle base? In the Matthews catalog it says 11 pounds, but lists the riser as 10lbs and base as 5lbs. I just want to know if it is lighter than the comparable avenger model(A2030D), listed as 13.7 pounds.

A: The Matthews stand without the arm and grip is, 11 lbs. The arm and grip adds another 4.5 lbs making the total 15.5 lbs.The Avenger stand, a href= http://bhpho.to/1kYlzuw, target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1kYlzuw,/a with the grip and arm is 18.4 lbs.

Q: 3. What is the column diameter of this c-stand?

A: The column DIA. is 1 1/4

Q: 4. Has anyone been able to have hands-on experience with the Avenger vs Matthews C-stands? Is one better made than the other? I heard that the Matthews design has better grip on arms and knuckles? I'm trying to figure out which brand I would like to invest in for C-stands mini booms and combo stands

A: There are some advantages to both. I own and operate a lighting and grip rental house, and have been a working grip for about 15 years. Here's my experiencesMatthews: -Lighter weight overall (not necessarily a plus. Having a heavier c-stand can be very very helpful).-somewhat thinner plating. The legs tend to get nicks and rust spots a bit sooner.-better heads and arms. The design of the heads is different. Matthews has grooved jaws, which do a better job of keeping things from spinning. They have one less part in the locking mechanics on the heads, and break less often.Avenger: heavier, better plating. Heads are more prone to break. Older avenger heads were truly crappy, but sometime around 5-7 years ago they changed their head mechanics, and they work better now. They still feel soft compared to Matthews, but they are far better than they used to be.At our shop we have Avenger c-stands exclusively, but we own additional heads and arms from Matthews for rigging applications. We prefer Matthews junior grip heads as well.

Q: 5. I want to attach to the boom arm: Godox AD600Pro with 100CM Octagonal. Will it work ? Also has anyone tried this ? Secondly I want to know if there is a weight limit to attach to Boom arm ?

A: The stand has a load capacity of 22lbs. That would include the light, softbox, grip arm and counterweight. If you use a collar pin https://bhpho.to/33viUF5, counter weight and sand bag it can work.

Q: 6. Has anyone been able to have hands-on experience with the Avenger vs Matthews C-stands? Is one better made than the other? I heard that the Matthews design has better grip on arms and knuckles? A: Thanks very much!

Q: 7. Can this support the Steadicam AERO 2-Section Carbon Fiber Sled so I can build the sled?

A: *** transfer to Pro Video *****************

Q: 8. what's the diameter of the arm? because i have an adapter to that with size 5/8 hole to fit a top stud / c-stand arm...

A: Hi,I have not received the order yet and because of that I can answer your question.BWEyfinnur

Q: 9. What is the leg diameter? I have some 25mm casters that don't seem to fit.

A: The manufacturer does not list casters for the Matthews Century C+ Stand with Turtle Base and Grip Arm Kit (10.5') BH #MALSCP40K.

Q: 10. Is this rail compatible with nato clamps?

A: The Falcam F22 Handlebar Quick Release Clamp is not Nato compatible. For NATO compatibility, consider the Falcam F22 Quick Release Plate to NATO Rail Adapter.
