A: No, The light is designed to be charged while powered off.

Q: 10. Can the tubes be controlled by the app only? Or is the AsteraBox CRMX Transmitter Box required to control the lights?

A: Yes. Controller is needed. Simple commands like ON/OFF, colors, preloaded effects etc can be sent with the infrared remote control directly to the lights. But when programming lights with the Astera App the IR remote can be used for confirming settings on individual lights.
