Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this fit the c300 mk iii as well?

A: no it will not fit the c300Miii the bodies are different

Q: 2. What are the exact dimensions plus the expandable lens cover?

A: According to Porta Brace, it is virtually impossible to measure the cover with 100% accuracy. I would agree for once sewn together, choosing where to measure from and to is multiple choice. So here are the approximate dimensions: 22 long, width 5-6 and the lens cover 10 . We thank Porta Brace for providing these dimensions.

Q: 3. Can this be used with accessories/modifications such as the Blackmagic SSD deck attached to the rear or XLR cords/receivers mounted to those dual plugs on the top/rear? Thanks!

A: This rain jacket will accommodate devices plugged into the audio XLR ports of the BM Ursa Mini. WRT the SSD deck it will get a bit snug if it is piggy-backed behind a v-lock battery - however with a little ingenuity a flap extension could easily be fabricated out of similar fabric and Velcro .

Q: 4. Does it fit with the monitor on the front? I only see pictures with the monitor on the top :/

A: This designed for the monitor on top.

Q: 5. I have a shoot scheduled for the Fall in Alaska (Rainy weather). Will this raincover keep my FS7 dry through regular shoulder mounted use?

A: We shoot handheld in a lot of rainy weather and it works well. Porta Brace works better than the other rain covers available. It's not 100 percent rain tight but it will work better than anything you can find. Alaska is really wet. It should provide the best protection.

Q: 6. Does this fold down to a pretty compact size?

A: yes this fold down into itself

Q: 7. Both PB rain covers for xf605 have poor reviews. How does this model differ from the QRS-XF605?

A: The PortaBrace RS-XF605 Rain Slicker for Canon XF605 only uses a hook-and-loop system to cover the camera, where as the PortaBrace Quick Slick Rain Cover for Canon XF605 (QRS-XF605) also has some cinch and zippers as well.

Q: 8. will this rain slicker cover Sony FS-7 with Sony extension mount with Anton Bauer Battery & Lectro Wireless receiver ?

A: According to images provided by Porta Brace, the RS-FS7 Rain Slicker can accommodate the camera with the Sony XDCA-FS7 Extension Unit plus a V mount battery. If you wish to usea Anton Bauer 3 pin Gold Mount, you would need a 15mm rod system with cheese plate to hold a Anton Bauer battery adapter. You could use a kit such as the Wooden Camera Sony FS7 Pro Accessory Kit B&H # WOWC185000 and Wooden Camera Gold Mount Battery Plate B&H # WOWC194300; both will be available soon. There should be no problem with that configuration with the slicker. Finally, you should have no issue with a mic receiver hung on the side or the front handle.

Q: 9. I bought the Porta Brace RS-FS7 Rain Slicker for my Sony PXW-FS7 but it does not fit. It is too big and too complicated due to the many Velcro pieces that do not line up. Has anyone found a better fitting rain cover that is quicker and easier to fit?

A: I use the extension unit with a brick battery attached so it fits fine for me. I could see how it would be loose without that stuff. The only issue I had was trying to attach the control handle the best way possible. The only other slicker I've heard of is made by Camrade. I'm sure there are reviews out there somewhere. Good luck.

Q: 10. two things --the picture shows a different camera than the PMW FS7 ?are there pics of the PMWFS7 with the rain cover?will it fit an FS7 with the extension unit and v-lock battery & radio mic?

A: The images have been updated. They show the FS7 with a V lock battery. There should be plenty of room for a radio mic.

An absolute essential for shooting outdoors in unpredictable conditions.

An initial test with light but consistent rain for about 10 minutes shows this material repelling the water, beading up and no penetration. It is a little bit tricky to see through the clear plastic when water droplets are all over it along with sky glare, but that is not a design flaw- just something to be prepared for and mitigate. The intended purpose of protecting the C70 in the rain while allowing access to view and grip is a success so far. Quality material and stitching. Easy to wipe off afterward as all the water just beads up on the surface.

The cover does exactly what I was hoping it would: cover the camera and EVERY piece that comes with it, and still gives me enough space to get my hands on it. I've bought rain covers for my Canon 5D in the past that left no room for my hands. This one leaves ample room while still covering the camera, lens, LCD screen, and handle. Thanks to an adjustable cord I am able to cover my lenses safely as well.

I bought this for photo-shooting in Iceland. Weather there were so extreme during winter time and the waterfall with chilly weather frozen all my gears including tripod except the camera, because it was protected by this rain cover. Absolutely love this product! However, it would be much better if it is less bulky

Excellent Rain Cover from Porta Brace. Used with my Sony FX9 with a V-mount battery on the back. Perfect fit. Camera is still easy to operate.

I like it quite a bit. It's very baggy so doesn't look as good as comrade rain cover but because it's soo loose you do have a space for extra attachment's like teradek or radio mic. Does the job and easy to put it on and take it off.

Great price to protect a $7,000+ camera! For those who have to film in the rain (Doc, ENG and Event work) this is a must have to protect your gear. Little hard to get to the buttons but that is to be expected with any camera cover.
