Offered here in a 36" x 50' roll, the Baryta Photographique II from Canson Infinity offers you the ability to create a photograph with the true look and feel of a traditional darkroom print. It features a 100% barium sulphate layer, which offers exceptional contrast and detail as well as a wide color gamut. The paper also provides a high D-Max to produce black and white images with depth and clarity and color images with vibrancy and intensity. Additionally, this media has a structured surface aspect which is similar to the traditional fiber-based darkroom papers and it has a pleasing luster finish.

The dynamic range is sumptuous right out of the box with their color profile. The paper surface is very nicely made and I appreciated the accuracy of the paper and how fast it was to make initial prints. Back in the early days of digital printing it would've taken a days to fine tune the paper to the printer, but test prints were fast to make with this paper. I'm most impressed and I make prints mostly for museum exhibitions. 5

I've always printed on cotton rag mat paper mostly because I did not want to swap out matte black and photo black inks on my printer. I've since purchased a printer with both matte and photo black inks My latest work is abstract and vibrant in color. The mat papers just don't work for these images. The Canson Baryta Photographique II paper gives me the colors and detail that I want. The surface is not glossy but satin and the Canson printer profiles are right on! 5
