The Bescor MP-101 Motorized Pan & Tilt Head attaches between a tripod and camera and enables remote panning and tilting of the camera. Two independent motors smoothly operate horizontal and vertical motion at adjustable speeds. The head supports payloads up to 6 lb. The two mounting points are the 1/4"-20 female threads underneath and the 1/4"-20 camera mounting screw with registration pin on top. All tripods and cameras are compatible.

An Auto Pan Mode allows for continuous panning motion, and a switch selector lets you assign end points at 45°, 90°, or 340°. The maximum horizontal angle is ±170 degrees, and the maximum vertical angle is ±15 degrees. This head can power by four AA batteries, the Bescor PS-260 AC power supply, or a Bescor 90-645 external battery, all sold separately.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way to set up the pan option to rotate the camera precisely 5 degrees? I would like to take a series of images at every 5 degrees.

A: No it can not. You may want to consider something like the Syrp Genie Mini II Panning Motion Control System (BH #SY330001 • MFR #SY0033-0001) If you need it for both panning and tilting consider the Syrp Genie Mini II Pan and Tilt Kit (BH #SY330001PTK (B&H Kit))

Q: 2. would i be able to use this on my crane to enable a pan option? i only have tilt and i really need to be able to pan

A: Yes it will, but pan slowly, may be jerky if too fast. But remember there is a power supply attached to the device requiring an extension cord to the end of the crane. Also, the remote controls to run the pan/tilt are very short and will require purchasing extensions for the remote, again, to the end of the crane.

Q: 3. Can you control this from a PC? I use a remote PC running Obs to live stream and would love to move the cameras remotely from the terminal.

A: We're afraid not. We are not aware an option like this that would be able to do that either.

Q: 4. Hello, could you please explain me what's the difference between this product and CamRanger MP-360 Motorized Pan/Tilt Tripod Head? Look same, price is the same as well..

A: These two items are identical, made in the same factory and are made available for purchase by two different distributors.

Q: 5. I will be using this with a spotting scope & wifi camera and will be at the weight limit. Will it hold up?

A: Being at the max payload capacity of the Bescor MP-101 Motorized Pan & Tilt Head with L-Series Battery Power Kit may present issues especially if the setup is not balanced. It is recommended to be under a max payload for best performance.

Q: 6. Is it weather proff?

A: I would not recommend that you use it in any rain and or snow etc. It is not weather proof , but if you put some kind of a hood over it to protect it , that might work.

Q: 7. does this unit operate with a battery supply or must it be plugged in?

A: works slightly better plugged in but when power is not available, works on batteries

Q: 8. Can this handle a Sony FS700 with lens ? - the cam is 4lb - with lens - probably hit 6lbs easily

A: The MP-101 can actually support up to 6 lbs, so if the camera you have is only 4 pounds it will work on it.

Q: 9. For our Church. How can I attached a joystick to this and use instead of the remote pad that comes with it. If possible can you tell me what all to buy (product name and #) and if I have to pay someone to do wiring?

A: You could attach one to it. Like a Chess Piece. Makes it into a joystick like item.

Q: 10. Any problems to mount this whole unit sideways (vertically) for a wide vertical rotation range instead of horizontal?

A: This head is meant to mounted horizontally. It would be a custom operation to set up vertically. It may be possible, but it is not something we recommend.

Works great with the SONY HDR-HC7E, very smooth, can pan slowly. Easy to setup and use.

I have 2 MP-101 Pan Heads that I use to video Church Services & Weddings. I use 3 cameras with a mixer & record to a DVD harddrive. One camera is hand operated & has a remote zoom on the handle. The to on the pan head also have remote zoom next to the pan head remote. I use the pan head cameras to set a scene then switch to them. One man can do it all. The hand op camera is my follow cam, so I don't have to worry about the seed of the pan not being slow enough. I would reccomend this unit. I am considering a 3rd one so I can have 4 camera's going at once.

I bought the MP101 to attach to a 10 foot tall tripod that I use for over the crowd 2nd camera shots. In the past I have mounted my camera on the tripod and guessed what the field of view would be when I raised it up. Once up if the view wasn't correct or the object of interest moved. I had to lower it down to adjust the view and then raise it up again. With the MP101 I only need to make sure it is level before raising it. Adjusting the view is so easy and no more raising and lowering when I need to change the view. I like the adjustable speed controller. It is easy to operate and accurate. The MP101 is quiet enough to use in church. Starts and stops are sudden but acceptable for my uses. I will need to purchase a longer cord for the remote though.

Cons: No speed control in automatic mode.Remote must be plugged in to work. Both easy to live with....MP-101 solved my primary panning problem. Love products that work as advertised, although speed control in automatic mode would have been nice.Includes a remote control. No need to buy a separate remote. Unit will not function if remote is not plugged in.In my experience, stationary objects (buildings, trees, parked cars, etc.) are the hardest to pan smoothly, unforgiving of panning mistakes. See my first MP-101 panning test (shot in automatic mode) at:@

This motorized pan and tilt head is just what I needed to be able to control one of my video cameras in a multi-camera training presentation. I just need to be able to keep the camera pointed at a relatively localized area, so it doesn't need to move fast for me. If you need something to do fast pans or track action, this might not be what you need. I was also pleased to find that it will work with just batteries (4 AA) or the included A/C Adapter. I also bought the wired remote extensions. As always, I appreciate B&H's fast and dependable service. I'm especially grateful that they mail to overseas military addresses USPS Priority mail. I had my item within 10 days.

I used this product for an end-zone camera system that I built for our football team. Works as advertised, just what we needed.

I set this on a tripod with long cables running to back of an auditorium where I have a remote monitor and the P/T remote control. It lets me pan/tilt remotely without having a camera operator up there. Great for multi-camera shoots. Note it is not intended to track moving talent live, it'd be hard to hit the remote accurately enough. But it is great for repositioning.

This exactly fit the use for which I was searching. A small battery powered pan/tilt remote control unit.
