Few things! 1.) It's very quiet by default. Make sure you have something to give this a lot of gain. 2.) Those coming from cheap USB mics, this is a lot heavier and I had to replace my cheap microphone arm. BUT having said that, I love it. I love the sound and I've already done VO work and streamed with it. Easy recommend and something that you can pretty much use forever. 5

I can't seem to get enough power out of the microphone for the levels to be at a normal (-12db) level in my recording software (Audition, and/or Captivate 8). I leave all of the processing in the 286 off... and just use the preamp phantom power feed to the microphone of 48v, with a 3/4 of total gain, then I also added gain at the Scarlite USB interface redbox.
