This 1- to 8.6-stop, 52mm Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter from K&F Concept is a variable neutral density filter providing an adjustable light reduction of 1 to 8.6 stops. It darkens the entire image evenly, allowing a photograph to be made with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing the exposure time or increasing the aperture, it is possible to control the depth of field and blur movement easily, creating a dynamic look for streams, waterfalls, landscapes, and more. This multi-coated variable neutral density filter does not affect the coloration of the image. The filter's slim design reduces possible vignetting on wide-angle lenses.

Q: 1. What is the frequency response of the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (40.5mm)?

A: Unfortunately, the specs of the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (40.5mm) do not list frequency response. The specs we do have is that if you turn the filter you can change the density of the filter from 1 to 8.6 stops.

Q: 2. Do they have any noticeable color shifts?

A: We have not had reports of any noticeable color shifts when using the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter.

Q: 3. Doesn't the blue coating affect the hue of the picture? Is there a blue tint?

A: The blue coating on this filter has no negative effects in terms of the hue in your images.

Q: 4. I just bought this filter and I experience something weird. When I turn it over the darker ND dot, the filter seems to go even darker and the photo look like a IR shot (all purple). Yesterday I set the filter at his darker point. I took a photo : f.14, 2.5s, iso 100. Then I turn further the filter and it became darker. So I change the time and I hand to go further as 60sec to get proper expose photo.. but in the viewfinder, it was all purple. Is that normal? I use it on Olympus em10II and 14-42 kit lens

A: The K&F Concept ND2-ND400 Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter (58mm) is only rated to perform properly till 8.6 stops. Going beyond the specified maximum may degrade image quality. Additionally with higher levels of light reduction one runs the risk of IR pollution in the image. As you reduce visible light you are more suspect to this pollution, which could be why you are seeing the strange colors.

Q: 5. Are these filters glass or resin?

A: The K&F Concept ND2-ND400 Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter (72mm) is a glass filter.

Q: 6. does it have a 67mm filter thread to stack another filter on top of it?

A: The K&F Concept ND2-ND400 Blue Multi-Coated Variable ND Filter (67mm) will be able hold another filter on top of it, the size of the filter to mount is 72MM.

Q: 7. Will this work with the Sony A7SIII?

A: This filter will work with any lens with a 67mm thread.

Q: 8. Does anyone know the difference between all the series of ND filters from K&F concepts (ie, nano, B-series, C-series, etc)??

A: The K&F Concept Nano X-Pro Variable filters features double-sided multi-coating and advanced Nano-coating that effectively minimizes reflections and improved image clarity. These are considered the top of their line. The K&F Concept B-Series filters features 8 layers of coating with good optical quality that is suitable for most photography needs. The K&F Concept C-Series are the base level filters with double-sided multilayer blue coating.

Q: 9. What size slip-on cap fits the 77mm size? Spec says front is 82mm; only push on is Kaiser 82 & people say it it's not a 82mm.

A: We check the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (77mm) in the store and it has 82mm front threads. So you can use an 82mm front clip on filter such as this: https://bhpho.to/4aMTVOT

Q: 10. Can you please confirm this will fit on the Tamron 17-28 f/2.8 Di III RXD lens. Will the 72mm front thread accept a 2nd filter?

A: The Tamron 17-28mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens for Sony E has 67mm front focus threads. As such, the K&F Concept Variable Fader ND2-ND400 Filter (67mm) would be compatible to fit the front filter threads on the Tamron 17-28mm lens. A 72mm filter would not directly fit on the front of the Tamron 17-28mm lens without the use of a step-up ring such as the Sensei 67-72mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring, B&H # SESUR6772.
