The Microtech Gefell M 990 is a cardioid tube condenser microphone offering high signal-to-noise performance and tube warmth for vocals, radio production, and orchestral recording. It features a large-diaphragm capsule with a gold-coated PE membrane, which is complemented by the specially selected EF 86 vacuum preamp tube.

With its high sensitivity and wide dynamic range, the M 990 delivers a full sound while maintaining low self-noise. The microphone connects to the power supply unit via a 7-pin cable, while a 3-pin XLR output is provided on the power supply for connection to your mic preamp.

The supplied elastic suspension securely holds the M 990 and mitigates the transfer of vibrations and stand handling noise. An aluminum case is provided to house the microphone, power supply, and other included components. A draft shield is also supplied to reduce breath noise and light plosives.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. could this microphone be used in a conference room setting to pick up voices around a table?

A: This is a cardioid polar pattern mic, meaning that it's focused on capturing the sound directly in front of it. For conferences where people are all around, an omni-directional polar pattern mic would work best. You could use this mic for recording conferences, but it wouldn't capture everyone's voices. I suggest looking for omni-directional microphones or microphones that have multiple polar patterns with omni-directional being one of them.

Q: 2. Is this one mic capsule and one pre or a stereo set of 2 capsules and 2 pres ?

A: Based on the manual and information I am finding on this, this is only 1 mic capsule. It is timbrally identical with the other 8000-series microphones for optimum aural compatibility, so that you can capture a group of instruments in the same way that you would use a stereo pair of mics.

Q: 3. Does it work with huawei mate 10? And is recognized by apps like Smule?

A: Yes. With a USB C to 3.5mm TRRS adaptor: B&H #: ILI115ADBK this mic will work.

Q: 4. Does this work with a headphone jack?

A: This microphone does not have a headphone output port.

Q: 5. if the vacuum tube is dead, any spare vacuum tube that i can repair my self?

A: I would strongly advise against home repairs. First you will void the warranty as you are not a Sony repair technician. The mic takes a 6AU6 vacuum tube but with a mic at that price point it's not like swapping a 6L6 out of a Fender amp. I would very cautious as you say the tube is dead. Cracked is more common due to mishandling of the mic when the tube is to hot. But dead could be something more complex as to why it's dead. I would advise returning it to Sony and let them fix it.

Q: 6. Does work with iPhone 7 + DJI OM4 (with DJI MIMO app)?

A: Yes, however the adapter in the link bellow is necessary to make a connection to the iPhone https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1280795-REG/apple_mmx62am_a_lightning_to_3_5mm_headphone.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 7. Does this require phantom power from the hot shoe or not require any power and can go in cold shoe extension?

A: This mic requires Plug-in Power from either a camera, recorder, or smartphone over the trs or trrs mic input connection.

Q: 8. Will it work with the Canon Rebel T7?

A: No, the BOYA BY-MM1 Mini Cardioid Condenser Microphone is not compatible for use with the Canon EOS Rebel T7 DSLR Camera because the camera does not have an input to connect an external microphone. You would need to connect the BOYA mic to a separate audio recorder.

Q: 9. Does it come with a fixing frame?

A: The Lewitt LCT-240 Pro Cardioid Condenser Microphone comes with a basic stand mount.

Q: 10. Does the power supply accept 240V AC?

A: The included power supply for the Sony C-800G Studio Tube Condenser Microphone that we sell operates at 120V AC. You can use a step-down transformer to convert the voltage coming from a 240V AC power outlet to 120V AC.
