Synco Mic-d2 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone
  • Product Code: ga79896
  • Availability: In Stock

$597.00 $883.56

The Synco Mic-D2 shotgun microphone features a hypercardioid polar pattern to deliver sharpened frontal focus and side rejection compared to supercardioid shotguns, allowing it to capture clear, quality dialogue and sound effects for independent filmmakers, videographers, and broadcasters.

The lightweight body is constructed from CNC-machined brass for improved resistance to interference and durability. The black speckle finish reduces reflectivity to ensure visual discretion during video shoots.

With strong sensitivity and high maximum SPL handling, the Mic-D2 provides robust distortion-free signal. Its circuit utilizes a built-in bass boost to enhance low-frequency detail. The microphone's XLR output and included XLR cable enable standardized hookup to mic preamps, mixers, and a variety of portable audio recorders. It is operated via 48V phantom power, so no batteries are required.

Whereas traditional shotgun mics use supercardioid polar patterns, the Mic-D2 utilizes a hypercardioid pickup pattern to provide even tighter frontal focus, more attenuation at the sides, and slightly increased rear pickup, making it an ideal choice for recording in indoor or outdoor environments.

The Mic-D2's circuit employs a built-in bass boost to enhance the detail of low-frequency sources, lending its tone to complement sound effects as well as dialogue.

With its balanced 3-pin XLR output and 48V phantom powering, the Mic-D2 can be used with an array of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders. The XLR connector's gold-plated contacts improve conductivity to maintain the integrity of your signal.

Lightweight and nearly 10" long, the Mic-D2 is well suited for use on a boompole or mic stand. It includes a mic holder with 5/8" and 3/8" options for mounting versatility.

The Mic-D2 includes a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this Synco mic M1s work with a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra?

A: The Synco Mic-M1S Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone can be used with an Android smart phone as long as you have a 3.5mm to USB-C audio adapter such as BH #SASRC2003.

Q: 2. Does it need require phantom power?

A: Yes. The Audio-Technica AT4053b Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone BH #AUAT4053B requires phantom power. Operating Voltage: 48 V Operating Current Consumption 4.8 mA

Q: 3. is there a warranty with this mic or do I need to purchase additional insurance with Allstate?

A: The manufacturer includes a Limited 2-Year Warranty.

Q: 4. Can this mic be rigged on-camera?

A: Any shotgun can be rigged on camera: Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1) You will need XLR input with phantom poer. If your camera only sports a mini input, you will need some sort of an XLR adapter device such as a beachtek adapter "with phantom power) to allow the use of this mic. 2) If this is going onto a smaller form factor camera and especially if you are using a wider angle lens, this mic may be in the frame, so this may not be your best choice then and you may want to opt for a shorter microphone. 3) Shotgun mics are very sensitive to handling noise, so make sure you get a shockmount to go with this mic in order to minimize handling noise.

Q: 5. Is there a latex adapter to fit most on-board mic holders, i.e. Sony sound handle, etc?

A: Yes, you can use the Sanken ROCS Rubber O-Rings for CS-1 (10) (B&H # SAROCS) to create a better fit for the Synco Mic-D2 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone with the mic holder on most cameras.

Q: 6. do you need a pop filter with this mic?

A: It depends on the type of application the mic will be used for. If you are using it in the studio as a vocal mic, then you may want to use a pop filter. For on-camera applications or if you use it on a boompole, a foam or furry windsheld should be all you need to protect the mic and avoid picking up wind noise.

Q: 7. On off switch?

A: The Synco Mic-D1 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone does not feature an on-board "On/Off" switch. The switch found on the Synco Mic-D1 Hypercardioid Shotgun Microphone is a "High Pass Filter" switch which filters out low end frequencies below 180Hz.

Q: 8. Is this compatible with Nikon Z6 ?

A: Yes, fully compatible.

Q: 9. Which 48V phantom power is recommended to work with this mic?

A: Flexible Operating Voltage: 24 to 48 V phantom power.

Q: 10. How long is the included XLR cable?

A: Synco has not provided us with the length of the included cable, but it is a very short cable meant for connecting an on-camera microphone to the camera.

As far as I'm concerned this mic IS the best bang for the buck on the market. Period. Full stop. Leaps and bounds better than other mics in its price range. You can buy 4 of these for the price of an MKH416. Buying a second now. Wish I could still get it for $169 like I did the first one.

Another mic in my arsenal for location sound and quick on the fly interviews. I am not a sound engineer but I know what I like and the sound is rich and professional. For the price, I am glad I bought this. Sounds just as good as my Sennheiser ME-66.
