A: This probably isn't a practical solution. The stand has a counterweight suspended from a cable in its center column, and if you lay the stand flat it can come off its track. You'd then have to disassemble it to get the cable back on track. It's not meant to be laid down horizontally, even just for transport.

Q: 4. I'm looking at this camera stand to replace an Arkay that I have now. My only concern is with raising and lowering the arm with the camera on it. I shoot mostly h.s. seniors, kids, models and families in my studio, and I like to keep the action moving. With the Arkay, a grip allows me to move it up and down pretty quick. How does this one work? Is it a quick movement to raise or lower the position, or is it a crank that would take more time?

A: there is a tightening knob to secure the vertical position. when the knob is untightened, you can change vertical positions freely. lateral movements are controlled by crank.
