I wanted a good quality and well made bag for my Manfrotto carbon fiber 055Pro tripod topped with a Gitzo ballhead, and I found it in the GC-2100. It is a perfect fit. Excellent quality materials and workmanship.

It looked like from the specs the Gitzo bag made for the traveler tripod would be too small for the 1542 model so tried this case and it is pretty much a perfect fit. I have a RRS BH-30 LR-II head mounted and it fits the case with 2-3 inches of space left in length. That is with the tripod not folded in the traveler mode. The diameter just fits the tripod, would not want it any less. It looks well made so should last thru many years of hikes. It is padded well enough it should provide plenty of protection when on my van floor with other travel gear.

I'm someone who likes to use bags to carry & protect all of my stuff. I hate strapping a $2,000 tripod/ballhead to the outside of my backpack (sorry, that's just me!).


This bag is well made, cushiony enough to protect my Gitzo tripod with ballhead and a few small accessories.


It may be overkill for most people, but I like the protection if affords.

after reading several reviews i was concerned about fitting everything into this bag. i have the rrs b55 ballhead with protective bag mounted. i also have one lenscoat leg protector on the tripod itself. i was hoping for a neat inside zip pocket in the bag for wrenches, cable release etc and it was there. it all fits perfectly and the bag is indestructible! the only bag to get for your gitzo tripod!

The GC-2100 padded tripod bag is well designed to accommodate both a Gitzo Series 2 Mountaineer tripod and an attached ball head. In addition to being a comfortable size, the bag has a shoulder strap, and grip handles both at the middle and one end; a place to provide owner identification is also handy.

A tripod as nice as a Gitzo deserves a good bag and this is the one! I'm very happy every time I use this bag.

This is the perfect bag for my GT2531 with the Markins Q20. It is very well made and easy to carry. The only issue I have is the exposed zipper tab on the inside pocket which is a potential hazard to the cosmetics of the enclosed gear. A quick remedy is to cover it with a short piece of vinyl tubing about 3/16 diameter or heat shrink tubing.

Protects my GT-2531 & RRS BH-30LR from all but extreme situations (it is a soft case). Protection at a cost of about 10% of what's inside... seems reasonable to me.

I needed a larger bag for carrying the Gitzo 2542L with the Really Right Stuff BH 55 ballhead. I had gotten the Gitzo GC-2100 but it is too small for the BH 55 head. This bag has plenty of room and is virtually indestructible.

I purchased the bag for my 3541XLS with RRS BH-55 & clamp. My set up measures approximately 31 1/8 in. and the bag will accommodate my set up with enough room to use the RRS ballhead pouch to cover the ballhead for extra protection. There is enough wiggle room to make removal problem free. My guess is that the bag will hold a set up measuring 31 1/2 in. without a problem. The bag is well made. The ballistic nylon and zippers are strong as well as visually pleasing. The padding is enough to protect against the usual bumps, etc. but I wouldn't check it in as luggage without additional padding, but maybe I'm just extra cautious.
