Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it fit only the C500 or is it compatible with the URSA Mini pro?

A: The Shape Baseplate says it's for the Canon c500 because it is made to be used with the Shape c500 cage. You could use this baseplate with the URSA Mini pro, but it only has 1/4 20" screw holds under the camera, and this baseplate comes with one 1/4 20" and one 3/8 16" screws. I would use two 1/4 20" screws to attach the c500.

Q: 2. What is the weight of the Shape quick release plate?

A: Hi Chris thank you for contacting us. The weight of the SHAPE quick release plate is 0,85 lb. Best regards

Q: 3. I just purchased my fs7 with this plate & quickly found out that you can't attach it to a normal manfrotto tripod plate. Can someone please tell me which plate I now need to get so I can actually put this on my tripod? (509HD) Thanks

A: The shoulder plant mounts to the Sony VCT tripod plate, and I've found it works very well.Karel B

Q: 4. Can you mount the camera to this baseplate using the center screws, shifting the camera back an inch or so, similar to the zacuto baseplate?

A: Just be aware that you will likely go through the adjustment game forever if using the shoulder mount for anything off of sticks. I know they sell an accessory wedge to place under the rear of the camera. Might be worth looking into if you are for sure going to change the screw placement.

Q: 5. What is the difference between this and the SHAPE Sony FS7 V-Lock Quick Release Baseplate (B&H # SHFS7BP)?

A: Hello PeterThank you for your question! Essentially it's the same baseplate. We at SHAPE gave a sku code for the FS7 and one for the Mark ii. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

Q: 6. Will this baseplate work with Came-TV components? Specifically the Came-TV mounting handles and the matte box?

A: Any accessory that has a 1/4"-20 or 3/8"-16 thread is compatible with the SHAPE V-Lock Quick Release Baseplate.

Q: 7. Can I attach this baseplate to the bottom of a Canon C300 Mark III?

A: The Camvate Quick Release Male V-Lock Baseplate is intended to be used as a interface to attach accessories. It would not be ideal for supporting a camera such as the Canon C300 Mark III.

Q: 8. Can this mount fit a panasonic CX350?

A: Yes, the CAMVATE Handheld Shoulder Mount Rig with Manfrotto Quick Release Baseplate will fit the Panasonic AG-CX350 4K Camcorder. It may not have the proper support from the small baseplate of this setup and may need to be replaced by something with a larger footprint.

Q: 9. Can the rods be put behind the shoulder pad? I want to add an Anton/Bauer style battery behind the camera body.

A: Yes, you can add 15mm rods to the rear with this accessory: SHAPE 15mm Rod Bloc for BP Series B&H # SHPEBPBLOC.

Q: 10. Is anyone having poblems with it clicking properly into VCT14? I have to remove the shoulder pad for it to click into place securely and even then mostly it doesnt click into the rear screw. I bought a new VCT14 thinking that was the issue but I still have the same problem

A: I feel like I had a similar issue when I first got the base plate, but maybe over time it's been able to fit better into the quick release plate. In the beginning I might've press down on the camera to help secure it. I probably still make sure that it's clicking in the place of the rear lock.

Just a little expensive!

Exactly what I was needing to be able to move my camera between my Ronin RS2 and my tripod quickly. Just mount this bad boy to the tripod plate, and you're set. Really well built and makes the camera feel nice and secure.

Although cheaper than many other quick release clamps, this does not disappoint. Are use it for attaching my Nikon Z6 to my steady cam and have not had any issues whatsoever.
My favorite feature is the small screw that allows you to adjust the clamping tension. I have used other Small Rig products and I've never had an issue so figured I would give this one a try and as I previously said, I am quite pleased with this quick release clamp.

I got this to simplify my quick release plate system. I love my Peak Design Capture clip, because it allows me to clip it on my page strap easily when I'm out and about. Since that uses can Arca swiss, as does my other tripods and tripod heads, I wanted to implement that with my Manfrotto 502 head. Since I couldn't just add a regular Arca Swiss quick release, since they use knobs, I had to find an alternative that was flatter and not too expensive. So I got this and it works perfectly! It is on the heavier side. Just weighing this by itself, it weighed about 110 grams. Compared to another one I got, it was about 30 grams heavier. Since I was using this on a tripod/monopod, I didn't care too much about weight. Since this was also cheaper, I opted with this for that setup which was perfect for my use. I love how easy it is to release the plate now vs the knob that I might want to eventually implement this on all my tripod heads.

In the past I've used Manfrotto base plates on all my rigs, but I needed an Arca type clamp for easy transfer from my cameras base plate to my ronin, and this delivered. Feels sturdy, I did adjust the screw, but there was a provided Allen wrench to do so. I'd recommend if you need a quick and easy QR clamp.

I was trying to cut down on costs a bit and originally went with a SmallRig baseplate similar to the SmallRig Quick Release 2280. The problem I had with that is you had to slip in the plate then screw it down down. It was always tricky with a big rig to do this. It may be easier with a different setup but for me it was always a bit of a pain. This is so much better. Day and night difference. This is more of a drop in and tightens with the lever on the side. Easier to drop in and also to release. The build quality on every piece of Small Rig equipment has been great. I have so many SR pieces since i keep changing and trying new builds for my cage.

This a well built piece of kit.
The lever lock is quick and secure - no fiddling with a rotating locking knob.
The QRP comes with an assortment of mounting points
and appropriate screws to suit.

Having this quick release plate in my setup is very convenient for me in all my need, for both my video and photography. I used this plate attached in my slider, to quickly release my tripod head in and out whenever I needed in my assignments.
