Distinguished by its updated sleeker and lighter weight design, the Viltrox AF 85mm f/1.8 FE II is the second-generation of this portrait-length prime designed for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens's short-telephoto focal length pairs with the bright f/1.8 design to suit working in a variety of lighting conditions and also for controlling depth of field and isolating subject matter. The optical design comprises one extra-low dispersion element, one aspherical element, and four elements made from highly transparent glass, which all help to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations in order to realize high clarity and sharpness. An HD Nano multi-layer coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for improved contrast when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, the lens features an STM motor for quick, quiet autofocus performance along with a minimum focusing distance of 2.6' for working with close-up subjects.

I have to admit that this is the first native lens for the Z mount I've purchased (have been using the FTZ adapter up to this point) and so far I love it! It's quiet and sharp (I can't compare it to the Nikon equivalent though in terms of sharpness, but I like what I've been able to capture with it). 5

I just got that lens a few weeks ago. I took it out with my Z6 for some test pictures. I gotta say that it performed better than I thought. Focus was good and it has a nice bokeh. It’s not as nice as the Nikon but it’s half the price. 5

It is heavier, yes, when compared to the body of my X-T30, but the package together doesn't feel awkward. I mainly find myself, as a newer Fuji X-mount user, using the flip screen to take shots at lower angles and so my hand just ends up below the lens/body combination anyhow. Autofocus is more than fast enough for my use (filming family and my child riding a bike are the most extreme situations); certainly faster than my older APS-C Nikon with it's Nikkor 50mm. The Viltrox 85mm works well with my X-T30's continual focus, too, because of this so I just use that feature all of the time. I will look for Viltrox going forward because of how surprised I've been by this lens. 5

Over all super excited to have an 85mm in my collection, went out today took some photos and I'm amazing at the sharpness of it ! Only draw back is since I purchased it used the lens hood has been damaged and it was a pain to get off the lens. I did inspect it once I got it off and it look likes someone didn't put it on correctly and kept trying to force it on, trying to see what I can do to get another one but over all lens looked brand new and performs amazingly 5

Autofocus is accurate and fast in all modes wide/single point etc etc....! Eye and face detection work great! Focus is quite for shooting video. Build quality 9/10. Would have gave 10/10 if weather sealed. I highly suggest purchasing this lens.. 5

This lens has a very solid build quality feel to it, the lens caps and hood attach easily, and the images are sharp with nice bokeh. Colors pre-edit look good and appear to be accurate. I shot the attached unedited jpeg photos in the shade during daytime at f/1.8 using a Canon R5. 5
