Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way of editing the EDID emulation, including the ID text that shows up on the source?

A: We are not aware of how to edit this product. You may want to reach out to HDFury directly for support. Tel: (201) 351-8668 contact@hdfury.com

Q: 2. I would need this specifically to send the HDMI output of a camera through a switcher to a live projector during a ceremony. The switcher would also have a laptop input. Will this unit support the transfer of the live video signal under these conditions?

A: Yes it will up to about 150 feet

Q: 3. I have two HDMI video cameras. I want to run them through a Roland V1-HD video mixer. I also plan on using to HDMI inputs from two laptop computers. Will this extender work for the two HDMI cameras? and will that affect the computer HDMI signal?

A: I would add that, although I haven't experienced any latency, I have noticed that there is some line skipping occasionally during fast moving content. I've only seen this once or twice but for that reason I wouldn't recommend using it in a professional multi-cam situation.

Q: 4. Trying to go out of a MBP to an HDMI splitter, but having issues. Someone suggested an HDMI EIED emulator. I guess I'm having handshaking issues? I get images on both sides of the splitter's output, but only for about 3 seconds, then it goes blank.

A: The HDfury Dr. HDMI EDID Manager / Detective (B&H# HDDRHDMI) is useful if the issue is synchronization or handshake-related. There's no way to know what the exact problem is that you're experiencing, but you're welcome to try this and we do have a 30-day return policy: https://bhpho.to/3m17kwn

Q: 5. can it be connected to my actual cat 5 network, or i have to cable a dedicated?

A: Everyone's correct, you cant. And the ones that you can, bandwidth is much lower (even Gigibit Ethernet) so there is compression at 1080.

Q: 6. Does this support HDCP?

A: Yes, it is EDID/HDCP transparent. What is connected at the transmiter side is reflected at the receiver side. It is NOT an EDID/HDCP emulator.

Q: 7. will it solve a MacBook m1 handshake issue with LG TVs ??

A: The HDfury Dr. HDMI EDID Manager / Detective is made to solve HDMI source to display issues. It should do what you wish.

Q: 8. I'd like to take HDMI output from an AV receiver, feed it into a switch. Then have the switch output to one TV and have the 2nd output go into a second AV receiver. From this AV receiver I'll display the video on another TV and audio over the connected speakers. Will this switch support this use case?

A: This product is a Matrix Switcher that allows you to send any of its 4 HDMI inputs to any of its 2 HDMI outputs. You can send any input to any output. If you would like to send 1 input to the same 2 outputs that is possible with this unit.

Q: 9. How do you change source to output 1080i? I need to change my 1080p camera to shoot out 1080i so my atem switcher will recognize it.

A: Hi there, B&H have asked me to try and advise you when using a Gefen HDMI Detective. Firstly the frame rate of your camera thru to your switcher is not changed by using this device. If your camera has the capabilty for different resolutions and frame rates, then you must carry out this procedure from within the menu of the camera. Normally most vision switchers require all sources to be the same or it will not recognise them. Hope this helps you.

Q: 10. Is there a audio output that will handle 5.1 Dolby sound? (output to AV receiver)

A: No, the Xantech HDMI 2.0 4x2 Matrix with Audio Breakout and EDID Management does not output 5.1 Dolby sound.
