The cocoa B2D Directional Lavalier Mic, Standard Gain, with Detachable cH-Style 4-Pin Connector Cable for Audio Technica Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a lightweight 0.18-ounce body that was designed to be discreetly mounted and can be used for miking news anchors, actors in a film or theater setting, lecturers in a school or house of worship type environment.

The B2D's tight hypercardioid pattern gives the mic an extra 6-10 dB of headroom compared to an omnidirectional lavalier mic, which means less problems with feedback, ambient noise, room rumble, and phase cancellations when using multiple microphones.

This version offers the highest gain for general chest-worn applications such as presentations or sermons. In addition, the B2D lavalier is equipped with a detachable cable that terminates to a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-T5201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

With its small size and sensitivity options, the B2D can easily hide behind a shirt button. This makes it invisible for film work, theater, live shows, or any other application.

Natural vocal reproduction and a tight polar pattern make the B2D ideal for broadcast and is a dependable workhorse you can count on to perform night after night.

The isolation clips minimize clothing and vibration noise while allowing 360° of rotation for easy positioning of the microphone.

This microphone is tuned to a frequency response that is natural and intelligible at a wide range of distances from the mouth. It delivers wonderful sound quality on the chest (8-10" from the mouth) or towards the collar (3-4").

Standard (gray band) for most uses

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this microphone plug directly in my Phone 8 and functions easily with the Apple app "Audio Memos" ?

A: This AT2020USBi mic does include a lightning cable in the box, and will work with iPhone X models. It should work for voice memos, as well as any other app that accepts audio input.

Q: 2. Can I connect this direct to my Canon R5 ?

A: Yes, the Audio Technica BP4002 Handheld Microphone for Speech will be able to connect to the Canon R5 via a cable like B&H # KOXRSM06B.

Q: 3. Did the Audio Tcnica Pro 24 CM work with an iPhone 5...?! What kind of accesories can i buy in b&h to make it work...?!

A: don't know

Q: 4. How do you attach the mic mount to the mic stand? the "male" end on the stand is too big for the "female" end on the mic mount

A: Please make sure to remove the 5/8" to 3?8" adapter from your mic mount and it should then work just fine. The included adapter allows you to mount it on other stands such as light stands.

Q: 5. Can I connect it to a mixer through a different cable than the USB cable?

A: The USB connector provides direct integration with Windows and Mac computers. It cannot be connected directly to a mixer.

Q: 6. Could one get power from a POE connection for a ptz camera to provide the phantom power for this mic connected to a ptz camera?

A: Microphones are not wired to accept PoE instead of phantom power, unfortunately, even though the voltage can be similar. In addition, regardless of whether a microphone requires 48V phantom power, it will also always require amplification first, before it can connect to the input on the PTZ camera. This is because the signal provided by a microphone is "mic level" voltage, which is much lower than the "line level" voltage your PTZ camera expects, and even when powered by 48V, the signal voltage will be the same. A microphone preamplifier is required to bring this signal to a useable level. You could use the Rolls MP13 Mini-Mic Preamp (B&H # ROMP13) with an XLR female to 3.5mm TRS cable such as the Kopul XRSM 3-Pin XLR Female to 3.5mm RA Stereo Mini-Plug Cable - 3' (B&H # KOXRSM03B), in any length you prefer, to connect to the camera's 3.5mm input. The Audio-Technica AT8035 Long Shotgun Microphone requires 11 to 52V for power and the Rolls MP13 can supply 24V. You will also need to use a standard XLR mic cable like the Kopul Premium Performance 3000 Series Neutrik XLR Male to XLR Female Microphone Cable - 10' (B&H # KOM3010), in any length you prefer, to connect the AT8035 microphone to the mic input on the MP13 preamp.

Q: 7. Can any of the AT-VMN95 series needles fit on this cartridge?

A: Yes, these needles will be compatible with the XP5 cartridge.

Q: 8. I have a Galaxy S9 Android phone. Is the connector in the TM-St1 removable so I could use the Rode SC7 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Patch Cable B&H # ROSC7? Or is there a TRS to TRRS adapter I could purchase?

A: The connecting cable is not removable.Use this adapter:Rode SC4 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor B&H # ROSC4

Q: 9. Help! I want to connect my BPHS to my MacBook pro for Zoom meetings. What do I need to get the microphone in and the earphones out? Do I need a pre-amplifier?

A: The broadcast headset should be used with an audio interface, such as the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), B&H # FOSCARSOLO3G. The audio interface would have a mic-pre-amp to accept the male XLR mic output from the headset, and a headphone output for the 1/4-inch stereo connector.

Q: 10. Can someone please share the dimensions for this windscreen? I have a Sony ECM-MS907 mic windscreen (approx 2.25 long x 1.25 wide) that I am trying to replace. Thanks!!

A: The AT8159 is designed to fit mics that have a 21mm (.83 ) diameter. Interior depth unfortunately is not specified, however the case styles it is designed for do not require a depth over 2 .

I'm an aspiring field recordist/sound designer and this shotgun mic fit perfectly in my student budget. So far I haven't had any problems with the AT897. It picks up sounds really well and blocks out most of the directional sounds. I did a lot of research before I made a purchase on my first shotgun mic and I'm certainly glad that I made the choice to buy this one. I would definitely recommend this shotgun mic for anyones first shotgun!

I ordered this mic after reading and watching lots of reviews. And I'm not disappointed. It sounds good, has good pickup, and good off axis rejection. I would have liked a smaller case to carry it in, but that's not a big deal.

My only complaint is the location of on/off switch for battery use. It is located at the same area as the mic holder on a pro camcorder like the Canon XH A1S and therefore inaccessable. Good thing the mic uses phantom power and the cam furnishes it.

I use the mic for short multi-media interviews. Works great, I particularly like not having to mic my subjects and have a lav showing in the shot. Great sound and easy set-up, my only wish is for an on off switch. Terrific value.

Been using it for about three months now with my Canon XA 50. Used for both interviews and vocals. Sound quality is awesome. For the price point I consider it a great value.

I highly recommend it.

I own a small video production company, and the 897 is versatile enough to handle almost everything we do: Indoor interviews, outdoor interviews, action shots, and ambient noise. It's great at cutting down unwanted noise. It's like an audio swiss army knife.
