The tan B2D Directional Lavalier Mic, Standard Gain, with Hardwired cH-Style 4-Pin Connector Cable for Audio Technica Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a lightweight 0.18-ounce body that was designed to be discreetly mounted and can be used for miking news anchors, actors in a film or theater setting, lecturers in a school or house of worship type environment.

The B2D's tight hypercardioid pattern gives the mic an extra 6-10 dB of headroom compared to an omnidirectional lavalier mic, which means less problems with feedback, ambient noise, room rumble, and phase cancellations when using multiple microphones.

This version offers the highest gain for general chest-worn applications such as presentations or sermons. In addition, the B2D lavalier is equipped with a hardwired cable that terminates to a cH-style 4-pin connector for direct connection to Audio Technica ATW-3201 wireless bodypack transmitters.

With its small size and sensitivity options, the B2D can easily hide behind a shirt button. This makes it invisible for film work, theater, live shows, or any other application.

Natural vocal reproduction and a tight polar pattern make the B2D ideal for broadcast and is a dependable workhorse you can count on to perform night after night.

The isolation clips minimize clothing and vibration noise while allowing 360° of rotation for easy positioning of the microphone.

This microphone is tuned to a frequency response that is natural and intelligible at a wide range of distances from the mouth. It delivers wonderful sound quality on the chest (8-10" from the mouth) or towards the collar (3-4").

Standard (gray band) for most uses

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can this be a shotgun? There is no visible diffraction grating along the sides of the case here. The manufacturer's spec sheet (at their website) shows a different case, with side walls gates to allow the classic shotgun interference effect.

A: The Audio-Technica AT875R truly is a shotgun microphone. The picture doesn't display the diffraction grating slots your asking about because of the way the item is displayed on the B&H webpage. They should of displayed more pictures at different angles. But there are four(4) diffraction grating slots... two on each side towards the front. You should know that this isn't the hightest quality shotgun microphone on the market, but for the price it's pretty much what you can expect. The sound quality is very professional. It rejects most sound arriving from the sides and completely rejects sound arriving from the rear. It does exactly what Audio-Technica stated. I use this microphone on my CANON XC15 camera with onboard Phantom Power. Hope this helps.

Q: 2. How do you attach the mic mount to the mic stand? the "male" end on the stand is too big for the "female" end on the mic mount

A: Please make sure to remove the 5/8" to 3?8" adapter from your mic mount and it should then work just fine. The included adapter allows you to mount it on other stands such as light stands.

Q: 3. Can this mic pick a sound from a distance like 5 or 6 feet?

A: Yes, it will still pick up audio at that distance, however for better sound quality try to stay within a 3-5 feet range from the subject you recording.

Q: 4. Does this come with a mic holder if I'm not using it with a shock mount?

A: There is a mic holder that comes with this that will screw onto standard mic stands. I've never used it as I've always had this used on a video camera, but I assume it will work ok.

Q: 5. How could I use this with the canon 60D?

A: The AT875 shotgun mic requires phantom power which a DSLR camera is not able to provide. To connect this an similar mics that require phantom power, an additional preamp/adapter will be necessary for connection and power. The Beachtek units are a great choice.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with a Panasonic HC-V750?

A: The basic answer is yes. This microphone is compatible with the 3.5mm audio input jack on that model according to the specs on this website. As for mounting, I cannot say. I've only mounted this mic on a stand.

Q: 7. Help! I want to connect my BPHS to my MacBook pro for Zoom meetings. What do I need to get the microphone in and the earphones out? Do I need a pre-amplifier?

A: The broadcast headset should be used with an audio interface, such as the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), B&H # FOSCARSOLO3G. The audio interface would have a mic-pre-amp to accept the male XLR mic output from the headset, and a headphone output for the 1/4-inch stereo connector.

Q: 8. Can I connect it to a mixer through a different cable than the USB cable?

A: The USB connector provides direct integration with Windows and Mac computers. It cannot be connected directly to a mixer.

Q: 9. what connection is used on the back side of the plate?

A: Connections are three set screws bearing down on silver plates...tin your wires and trim to a quarter inch, then inserrt each under the plate and tighten down the set screws...could not be easier...first you might place a heat shrink tube on the cord (heat shrink inside diameter large enuff to fit over the set screw mounting) and that will help prevent the cord from being yanked out...

Q: 10. can anyone tell me how to attach the pop filter to this mic stand in a way that the whole thing doesn't tip over AND the filter is in the appropriate place in front of the mic? I can't seem to figure out it. Thanks.

A: Yes, it's a bit of a struggle with lightweight boom stands. What I did was attach the pop filter to the mic stand and then shorten the boom enough to be able to place the pop filter in front (All I needed was to have the mic off the table). If that's not possible, I suggest sandbagging the mic stand so that you can safely extend the boom with the pop filter attached to it.
