This purchase was a second unit I gave to a friend. I have had one of these units for about three years. Cheap swinging needle battery testers are only useful for a Dead/Alive assessment of a single-voltage battery. If the battery under test will only last an hour under load, the cheap tester may still shows 100%. THIS tester has proper loads for five different battery types. I need to use four of the five locations. It's fairly easy to use. My only gripe: You have to put the tip (positive) end of the battery on the tester's contact, which can be a little annoying if you don't have the steadiest hands. 5

Finally a battery tester that is not merely a voltage test, but gives accurate readings of the battery;s remaining capacity. It is so small it takes very little space which is nice for field work. The case (sold optionally) protects the tester very well. For serious photographers this is what is called a no-brainer. 5

Excellent for salvaging batteries lying around the house with uncertain power. This device saved me lots of money by confirming residual battery power in batteries that i thought were expired. Great as a gift for electronic users. 5
