First FX Nikon after several DX models. Excellent camera/lens combination at great price. Excellent customer service and fast shipping. Much faster than one of their competitors. Still waiting for them to ship a preowned lens that, unfortunately, BH didn't have. Oh well. Live and learn!

Picked up the 780 as an upgrade from a 5600. I don't know why I waited so long to switch to a FX body. I was going back and forth on a 750 vs 780 since I don't shoot much video. With $300 off I chose the 780 and glad I did. I really enjoy the touch screen and I'm getting use to shooting with live view after 40 years of looking through a viewfinder. I am really impressed with the results in low light using high ISO, super fast focusing, facial recognition and tracking. I see this body lasting my well into the future.

It will not be opened until Christmas. Can I review it then?

I can't testify to an upgrade from the D750 because I upgraded from the D7200. I took some great photos with the D7200. It is a great DX camera. I wanted full frame. The D780 is much heavier at all than the D7200. So far I love my new camera. I purchased it with the 24-120. I'm really enjoying that lens as something to keep on the camera daily unless I want do shoot something very specific. If I am able to upload some photos, the dog walking toward me was shot with Constant Auto Focus, Auto. Thank you BH Photo for a great buying experience.

Wow! This camera really does it all & I'm very much enjoying the 24-120mm lens... almost to the point where I'm thinking twice on getting a 24-70 to go in my bag.
I've used this camera for work when I was without the D810 from the office & it seems to hold its ground & keep up with the 810. As a novice photographer with a lot to learn, this camera is now my go-to & can't seem to shoot enough with it!

I bought the D780 as an upgrade to the D7000... I'm glad I waited.

-I almost bought a D750 several years ago, but wanted 4K.
-I could've jumped ship for a Fuji or Sony system, but I have a ton of old Nikkor glass that can't be easily adapted or replaced (and that have quirks that have been engineered out of modern lenses), and am more or less committed to Nikon at this point.
-I could've stuck with crop-sensor and been ok with the much cheaper D7500, but I really wanted to get the full frame out of my old Nikon glass.
-I could've gotten into the Z system with a Z6, but the adaptability of old glass is questionable at best, and the clinically sharp and wildly expensive Z glass holds no appeal at all, and, well, I like a real optical viewfinder.

So I'm glad I waited for the D780. It ticks every box for me. Excellent and very malleable RAW files; full frame; super clean up to ISO1600, and acceptable to 6400 or 12800; 4K; motor to push D-series autofocus lenses.
If the LiveView brought up a tiny electronic viewfinder in place of the optical viewfinder, it would be the uber camera (for my needs), but as it is, it's pretty much exactly the camera I've been waiting for.

(Used for: scanning film negatives, shooting videos for my photobook unboxing vlog series, very occasional use as a digital camera.)

I'm very pleased with my FX full-frame Nikon D780 camera. And it's nice to be able to swap lenses between it and my Nikon D7200 DX camera body.

I tried the Z6ii and after 28 days and over 3000 pics I returned it-the autofocus was miserable. So I stepped down or sideways into the D780. It is an upgrade from my old D750 in a lot of ways. Faster focus and tracking etc. If you can't take sharp pictures with this it's you not the camera! I am an enthusiast level photographer shooting some birds, dogs, landscapes and the occasional person.

I went back and forth between the Z6 and this one to upgrade my D750, but I’m glad I went with the D780. It feels like an old friend, but performs better. The battery life and the eye-tracking system alone are worth it for me.
