The cocoa B2D Directional Lavalier Mic, Medium Gain, with Hardwired 4-Pin Hirose Connector Cable for Audio Technica Wireless Transmitters from Countryman features a lightweight 0.18-ounce body that was designed to be discreetly mounted and can be used for miking news anchors, actors in a film or theater setting, lecturers in a school or house of worship type environment.

The B2D's tight hypercardioid pattern gives the mic an extra 6-10 dB of headroom compared to an omnidirectional lavalier mic, which means less problems with feedback, ambient noise, room rumble, and phase cancellations when using multiple microphones.

This version offers medium gain for very loud speaking, such as in theater performances and most vocals. In addition, the B2D lavalier is equipped with a hardwired cable that terminates to a 4-pin Hirose connector for direct connection to Audio Technica AEW-T1000, AEW-T1000a, ATW-T1001, ATW-T35m, ATW-T601, ATW-T701, ATW-T75, and ESW-T211 wireless bodypack transmitters.

With its small size and sensitivity options, the B2D can easily hide behind a shirt button. This makes it invisible for film work, theater, live shows, or any other application.

Natural vocal reproduction and a tight polar pattern make the B2D ideal for broadcast and is a dependable workhorse you can count on to perform night after night.

The isolation clips minimize clothing and vibration noise while allowing 360° of rotation for easy positioning of the microphone.

This microphone is tuned to a frequency response that is natural and intelligible at a wide range of distances from the mouth. It delivers wonderful sound quality on the chest (8-10" from the mouth) or towards the collar (3-4").

Medium (red band, -10 dB re W4) for Loud vocals

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can this be a shotgun? There is no visible diffraction grating along the sides of the case here. The manufacturer's spec sheet (at their website) shows a different case, with side walls gates to allow the classic shotgun interference effect.

A: The Audio-Technica AT875R truly is a shotgun microphone. The picture doesn't display the diffraction grating slots your asking about because of the way the item is displayed on the B&H webpage. They should of displayed more pictures at different angles. But there are four(4) diffraction grating slots... two on each side towards the front. You should know that this isn't the hightest quality shotgun microphone on the market, but for the price it's pretty much what you can expect. The sound quality is very professional. It rejects most sound arriving from the sides and completely rejects sound arriving from the rear. It does exactly what Audio-Technica stated. I use this microphone on my CANON XC15 camera with onboard Phantom Power. Hope this helps.

Q: 2. Which case comes with this microphone? I have an old AT815b and my case just fell apart. I need a replacement case

A: The Audio-Technica AT8035 Long Shotgun Microphone includes the Audio-Technica SG1 Case. Audio-Technica specifies the SG3 Case for use with the AT815b Line+ Gradient Condenser Microphone, which is not offered by B&H at this time.

Q: 3. I wanted to use this headset to dictate to a computer while listening to output audio. From the connectors, I am not sure it will work. I have an andrea pure audio external sound card with two inputs for headset and mic. How would that work with this product?

A: It is not made to use with a computer. This is a professional broadcast headset for broadcasting sporting events and this type of thing. It has 2 connectors on it one XLR and one neither one is available on a computer. It is normally plugged into a broadcast console that has the ability to accept both types of connectors. I would check with computers where they will have headsets for computers that will have these same functions. Only they are purpose built for computers.

Q: 4. Currently we have circular grommets that fit old microphone mounts. Will these new mounts fit our current grommet holes?

A: XLR inputs are a standard size so the grommets you have should fit into the circular holes. It is difficult to determine whether there may be any difference in the thickness of the plate on your old mic mounts to know whether or not the grommets you have will match the thickness of the plate on this mount. But there is a good chance that they can be a match.

Q: 5. Do these mics need phantom power? I didn't think so, but it won't work with our passive unpowered phone hybrids.

A: Just as Henry H. explained, the mic on the headset is dynamic, so it ould not require phantom power. I use my headset with a small Behringer mixer with phantom power turned off and it works fine. You probably have tried this, but I would suggest making sure your trim and/or gain is turned up because I have found that some mixers resist the signal significantly more than others.I would also suggest listening back with another headset or loudspeaker that you know will work just in case there is a headphone out setting or bad output you are unaware of.

Q: 6. Will this fit my Lectrosonics M152?

A: Yes they will. There is also the Lectrosonics RK150 windscreen. Not as good a deal though.

Q: 7. Will this fit a sanken cos11 b

A: Yes. The mic clips included in the Auray Lavalier Deluxe Accessory Kit (Medium) are compatible for use with the Sanken COS-11D, and the foam and furry windscreen should fit when placed over the mic's mesh windscreen.

Q: 8. can anyone tell me how to attach the pop filter to this mic stand in a way that the whole thing doesn't tip over AND the filter is in the appropriate place in front of the mic? I can't seem to figure out it. Thanks.

A: Yes, it's a bit of a struggle with lightweight boom stands. What I did was attach the pop filter to the mic stand and then shorten the boom enough to be able to place the pop filter in front (All I needed was to have the mic off the table). If that's not possible, I suggest sandbagging the mic stand so that you can safely extend the boom with the pop filter attached to it.

Q: 9. Does the headset have some sort of mute button?

A: No, there is mute button on this headset

Q: 10. How does the sound quality of this mic compare to the Audio-Technica AT8024?

A: This mic is stereo only, and has a little less low end frequency response than the AT8024, but otherwise the overall sound quality is very similar.
