Series 5 booms combine the best properties of Ambient's QXS and QP series thanks to new tube technology. With a custom-made carbon fiber compound using added UHM fiber layering, the QuickPole S5 boompole becomes as sturdy as the QP 4-segment series but is still as lightweight as the QXS 5-segment series.

The new Teflon sheet plus silicone-lubricated felts make for fast and smooth extending and collapsing of the boompole. The telescoping function works quickly to help you capture sound, while the re-engineered locks give you better grip thanks to the refined knurling and slightly extended length. Finely tuned threading means that the locks open and close securely with just a quarter turn, for lightning speed on set.

The anti-twist mechanism of the pole sections replaces the retention pin with an innovative serration. The lock pieces automatically fall into place when you disassemble and reassemble your pole for cleaning or maintenance—what used to be an easy process has become even easier.

The redesigned tip and bottom end allow for an easy, solder-free cable retrofit. This model is pre-configured with mono internal cabling.

Good boompole, nice to have the internal cable, so that it's easy to work with. I don't anticipate a lot of cable noise as long as I'm not getting crazy with it. A pad at the base, and hand padding on the last section like my other boompole would have been nice, but not a big deal.

People with no experience love to slam the pole down on the ground and mess up the XLR connections. With the connection coming out the side, I don't have to worry about someone messing it up.

For the price, this boom can't be beat. The internal coiled XLR cable pushes this pole over the top. It has a sturdy build and is a must for anyone doing any sort of field recording.

I usually love Rode, but after being frustrated with my Rode boom on multiple shoots, I finally purchased this and it is SOOOO much better. Lighter, faster, smoother. Would like to have a foam grip, but I'll take the trade-off.
