Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with with the Sigma fp? And do you know of any other brands with a step up riser that are compatible? Thanks!

A: Yes, the SmallRig Universal Baseplate with 15mm LWS Rod Support could work with many cameras including the Sigma fp. Other models that could work will be listed below. CAMVATE Quick Release Baseplate with 15mm Rod Clamp & Vertical Adjustment BH #CAC2649 SmallRig Universal 15mm LWS Support Baseplate with Quick Release Plate BH #SM2092B

Q: 2. What's the minimum height you can achieve with the 1/4" adapter attached? I have 1cm clearance between the tip of the rod and the foot of the lens. Need to bolt it in as a v-mount still allows the lens to move.

A: Tilta has informed us that the minimum height is 2 inches on the Tilta 15mm LWS Rod Lens Support with the 1/4"-20 adapter.

Q: 3. What are the dimensions of the QR Plate itself?

A: This is not a published specification. Please contact the manufacturer directly: SmallRig: Email: smallrig@smallrig.com

Q: 4. anyone have a preferred softie windjammer for this mic that doesn't add too much bulk to it? lots of the ones listed for accessories here are for regular length shotguns. thanks

A: Given its extremely small size, presently there is no softie windjammer available. The best way to shield the Schoeps MiniCMIT against wind noise is by using a windshield kit; BH# RY086072.

Q: 5. Do you think it will fit OConnor O-Rig Pro Kit B&H # OCORCS MFR # C1257-0001?

A: It works for my Nikon 24-70 and Sigma Art 24-35 lens, and keeps them from bouncing around. For a shoulder rig I like things tightened up and this works.

Q: 6. How do you get the other rod to stay in place?

A: Both rods are clamped in a rod support that can be attached to a base support on a tripod or a camera. This LWS lens support is clamped to only one rod and rests on the other rod.

Q: 7. Can this be used with the Tilta Basic Cage?

A: Yes, one can mount the SmallRig Universal Baseplate with 15mm LWS Rod Support to the Tilta Basic Cages.

Q: 8. Does it work with a Canon 17-120 servo lens? Using it with a Sony FX9

A: The Tilta 15mm LWS Rod Lens Support is a Universal lens support solution that would work with any lens. Just add a baseplate with 15mm rods to use the Lens support with any camera model.

Q: 9. How many mounting points are there on the botton?

A: There are seven 1/4"-20 and one 3/8"-16. They are not designed ot be used all at once as they are very close to each other.

Q: 10. Will this work with the Tilta Arri Standard Dovetail and baseplate? The rails sit wider than say the Zacuto universal baseplate.

A: Hello,The LS-T05 is made for standard 15mm rod systems. If I understand the baseplate you are referencing correctly, that is a 19mm system and is incompatible with the LS-T05 or LS-T05-A, depending on your lens.

Scheops newest shotgun mic and the 3rd member of the CMIT family. Has the CMIT sound minus the filter options but makes up for being versatile with its small size. Great mic!

I'm using this on a Canon C100 camera system with 15mm rods, to support my Sigma 50-100 f/1.8 lens. The lens support is just tall enough to support the lens at the widest part of the lens barrel at the front end. Many matte box risers are adjustable though, so I could adjust the camera height to accommodate other lens options. It works very well. I'm glad I purchased it.

All my go to microphones for field location audio are first and foremost Schoeps. I have a pair of Schoeps cmc641s and snagged a cmit5u when it was first introduced. I was in the market for adding a second cmit5u and saw that the miniCMIT had just been released. So glad I waited for this newer version. It's size makes it incredibly versatile in tight locations. It's lighter in weight than its big brother (cmit5u) but has the same sonic quality. The only thing you give up on the mini model is some of the filter options. I've used this on multiple shoots and interviews and it is a stellar microphone. The one thing I appreciate most about Schoeps microphones is the overall lack of coloration. Once I'm back in my studio listening to playback I can close my eyes and it's like the talent is sitting there right next to me speaking clear, uncolored, natural audio. That being said there is a lot of buzz about Schoeps microphones being susceptible to humidity causing the mic to motorboat. I have only had this happen once with my cmit5u in an extremely humid interior interview. For that reason I highly recommend you always have on hand a microphone that is impervious to humidity and moisture (Rode NTG-3, Sennheiser MKH 50, Sennheiser MKH 416 or whatever you prefer). But otherwise all my Schoeps have performed well in some very humid environments. If I were headed to the Amazon Rain Forest or somewhere incredibly wet and humid I would leave all my Schoeps at home and go with a sure thing that could endure that much moisture. And yes, there are times I will choose another mic for very specific reasons dictated by the room or the talent's voice, but otherwise I'm swinging a Schoeps on my pole at least 95% of the time. Money well spent.
