Series 5 booms combine the best properties of Ambient's QXS and QP series thanks to new tube technology. With a custom-made carbon fiber compound using added UHM fiber layering, the QuickPole S5 boompole becomes as sturdy as the QP 4-segment series but is still as lightweight as the QXS 5-segment series.

The new Teflon sheet plus silicone-lubricated felts make for fast and smooth extending and collapsing of the boompole. The telescoping function works quickly to help you capture sound, while the re-engineered locks give you better grip thanks to the refined knurling and slightly extended length. Finely tuned threading means that the locks open and close securely with just a quarter turn, for lightning speed on set.

The anti-twist mechanism of the pole sections replaces the retention pin with an innovative serration. The lock pieces automatically fall into place when you disassemble and reassemble your pole for cleaning or maintenance—what used to be an easy process has become even easier.

The redesigned tip and bottom end allow for an easy, solder-free cable retrofit. This model is pre-configured with stereo internal cabling.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what would be a good pistol grip to use with this boompole and sennheiser mkh416?

A: The Rycote Softie Lyre Mount with Pistol Grip (BH #RYLMPG) is a great pairing to marry the K-Tek KE-89CC Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole with Internal XLR Cable with the Sennheiser MKH 416-P48U3 Moisture-Resistant Shotgun Microphone: https://bhpho.to/3xqk0Tu

Q: 2. The description says, "The Boompole Kit Bag from K-Tek is a duffel style bag for transporting boom poles", but going only by the shown pictures, it does not appear this boompole will fit in this bag. Does it indeed fit?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 3. Would RØDE NTG4+ be too heavy for this particular boom pole?

A: Hello King, I would say in most applications it would be. As you add the sections it would eventually bend far too much. I would recommend the Rode Mini Boompole, Boompole, or Boompole Pro.

Q: 4. What is the fully close length?

A: two foot, five inches or 0.7 meters

Q: 5. Will this cable work with the Nano Shield system?

A: The Rycote Connbox 4 for Single Shank Stereo Microphones with 5-Pin XLR is specifically for use with a stereo microphone that has a 5-pin XLR output connector and it also has standard size connectors. It may work, but it really will depend on the compatibility of the microphone and the size of the Rycote Nano Shield you will be using. The details for the Nano Shields show a cable with low profile 3-pin XLR connectors.

Q: 6. this is for 3.5mm is for Sony or Sennheiser ?

A: The Ambient Recording 3.5mm Adapter Cable for ARRI Alexa Mini specifies compatibility with Sennheiser "ew" receiver output connections.

Q: 7. When disassembled, what is the length on the longest of the 3 pieces?

A: The longest part should be 2.8'.

Q: 8. The screw at the top of my boom pole has broken off in the shock mount. Is it possible to buy a replacement top screw for this boom pole?

A: K-Tek does offer replacement parts for their boom poles but B&H does not have the correct part available. You should be able to get it directly through K-Tek. You can reach them by phone at 760-727-0593 or by email at info@ktekpro.com. Their offices are located in Vista, California.

Q: 9. Whats the benefit of Graphite over Carbon Fiber?

A: Apart from how it looks on the surface, the K-Tek KEG-150CCR Avalon Series Graphite Boompole with Internal Coiled XLR Cable will not provide noticeable benefits over a similar boom pole that is made of carbon fiber. Weight, durability, and strength are not much different between the two materials.

Q: 10. hello does this cable same like Ambient Recording LTC-OUT/EPIC Lockit Timecode Output Cable for Red Epic/Scarlet (16") 5 pin lemo to 4 pin lemo ?

A: This cable is designed for transfer of metadata and specific remote control protocol. We can not guarantee proper functionality if used as an LTC-Output cable. Here is an alternative BH #RECATCL5ML4M.
