$975.00 $1,326.00

Vienna Instruments - Percussion from Vienna Symphonic is a sample-based virtual instrument, containing all of the percussion instruments of the orchestra. Many instruments are available in an additional second version, such as the Timpani 2 (with up to eight velocities,) snare drum 2 (up to 12 velocities, with and without snare,) bass drum 2, field drum 2, tambourine 2, triangle 2, suspended cymbals 2 and a-due cymbals 2. Also included are concert toms, roto toms and Taiko drums.

The collection also contains production-ready instruments, processed with high-end studio equipment and put into the right aural perspective using multi-sampled convolution reverb from the Vienna Symphonic Library's MIR development program. The basic percussion instruments (timpani, snare and bass drum, tambourine, suspended cymbals, a-due cymbals, glockenspiel, triangle, xylophone, tubular bells, tam-tam and concert toms) are available not only as samples with minimal reverb, but also with the reverb of the world-famous Wiener Konzerthaus in various stage positions.

The Vienna Instruments user interface is clearly arranged and includes pre-configured patches for immediate playability with no learning curve. The interface uses a powerful proprietary streaming audio engine that can load up to 3,456 articulations (patches) on one MIDI channel.

Load times are extremely low and sixty-four stereo voices per instance can stream from the hard disc. A RAM optimizing utilities clears unused samples out of RAM. Users can easily create their own instruments, using "drag and drop" functionality, and the instrument provides the ability for velocity crossfades and release control to be switched on or off in real time.

One of the great things about MOTU Symphonic Instruments is that it runs on G4 processor, and even on 256MB of RAM. Consequently, on the even the cheapest of the modern laptops (just like my 2MB Mac Air Intel i5) it works smoothly and loads all the instruments instantly. To me it's the best thing ever to run software release in 2006 on a 2012 computer, because it just runs great. And the sounds are simply breathtaking. Even the concert piano is mind blowing, really lending itself for classical piano playing in real time from my digital piano keyboard. And the price could not be better with B&H special discount offers. I took advantage of the discount, and I am a very happy camper now. Oh, and the authorization process with iLok is very good. I installed MOTU Symphonic Instruments on two computers, and to run it, I simply insert the iLok USB dongle, and voila. It's simply great.

It's not a big sample library but the bell tones are excellent! I could not find a comparable library for this type of bell sound from the other big name sample library companies, so this fills a niche missed by others.

This is my seventh virtual piano. See my review of the Bösendorfer also by VSL — this is just as supremely recorded and I prefer the Steinway sound. It's hard to see how anyone will ever do any better than this. There are 10 different microphone positions (plus the room mix which incorporates several of them in the standard library; I think the full library gives added richness). I use eight of them (not the Main or the main-C) and the plate reverb at 30% which I like better than the algorithmic reverb or the delay. If you can't afford the full, the standard will still be superior to anything else out there.

The Synchron interface is SO much easier to use (than the former Vienna Symphonic Instruments plugin). Sound quality and playability are impeccable.

Best piano library I've experienced. Vibrant sound, customization and dynamics are all there. If you are into CFX or trying to add it to your arsenal, do not hesitate.

The sounds in this plugin are great! not OMG AMAZING! but for only $, it beats anything else ive used in this price range. Some of the sounds are a bit lacking, but most sound great and have many uses in pieces. overall a great buy!
