The military green Storejet 25M3 Portable Hard Drive from Transcend is built with 4TB of storage and a USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface that transfers up to 5 Gb/s. This bus-powered hard drive connects to your computer via USB Type-A and keeps data secure with an integrated 256-bit AES file encryption. The Storejet 25M3 is made from military-grade silicone rubber and features a reinforced casing that resists shock in case of accidental drops.

The internal 2.5" hard drive receives further protection from a built-in suspension system alongside its quick reconnect button, which re-enables the disconnected hard drive without having to remove or reinsert the USB cable. I've used three of these for a secondary backup of video footage. They have been excellent. The read and write speeds have been solid, especially when dealing with large numbers of video files. I've used both thunderbolt and usb3 external drives. I haven't seen any performance benefit of thunderbolt over usb 3 when using a single external drive. It has to be a raid setup, or an external ssd for thunderbolt to be useful. The case has a slight rubber feel to it, which provides the anti shock. I have no complaints about the durability. I'm very careful about shock to a spinning drive while in use, so I can't say wether this drive is better than any other for abuse while being used. I'm very pleased with these drives. Their price point, durability, compact size and solid performance are why I'll continue to use them in the future. 5

I use this puppy to store and back up all of my personal business files/documents. Everything from pro quality photos, faxes, contracts, etc. This unit is exceptional for handling both the media and file management aspect of business. YOU NEED USB 3.0 port to maximize the performance potential of this piece. Yes, it is backwards compaitible with 2.0; but being built and advertised as a 3.0 unit with zippy speed capabilities, you had better have a 3.0 port.It is simple to set up and use, and has worked like a charm for the past 2-3 months. I use this to organize and maintain my day to day business operations and rely on it performance and functionality. I'm tempted to buy another, but I think 1TB is plenty of space for the time being. 5
