This bright design offers impressive control over depth of field for isolating subject matter and enhancing low-light performance. Beyond speed, the lens uses a Sonnar optical design, which prioritizes sharpness and low distortion for clear and accurate rendering. For the Canon M50 this is a great choice for portrait work. Offering a focal length of 80MM at f/1.2 opens up a fun optic for this use. Easy to focus and use I see it as the missing lens in Canon's own lens offering. They have a 35mm f/1.4 which is equal to 50mm lens but still a little short for portrait work. At the price the TTArtisan is a great value.

If you're like me you love the feel of a metal manual focus lens. This lens feels great. The focus action is smooth and the lens itself has enough weight that you're not left with that plastic-air-inside-instead-of-glass feeling that some of today's auto focus lenses provide.

The aperture ring clicks, which is nice, but the clicks are much more subtle than just about any manual focus lens from the 1980s. This, in my mind, is a GOOD thing. You get the assurance of a true stop but it's done softly. I also love having the aperture ring at the front of the lens rather than the back. It just seems easier to feel and use versus traditional aperture rings that are placed at the back of the lens next to the camera body.

Hey, at this price how can you go wrong? I highly recommend you try it. Attached is a picture of this lens on my Canon EOS M3.

I was looking for a f/1.2 portrait lens that had an approximate equivalent to 85mm, for my fuji X-E3. This TTArtisan came highly recommended and at it's price point I felt I would give it a try. Being a 50mm, on my APS-C sensor, it is a 75mm equivalent. The lens is all metal, very solid and extremely well made. It is a little heavy but balances well with my camera body. The clicked aperture ring is very smooth and so is the focus ring. It is an all manual lens so no information is communicated to the camera body and all focusing is done manually as well. I used it on a portrait session and I was blown away. I purposely shot at f/1.2 to see how it performed and I was quite impressed. Utilizing focus peaking, it nailed focus on 98% of the images. There was very minimal chromatic aberrations with some of the high contrast images, but not any more than would I get on a lens ten times the price and easily corrected in post. If you are looking for an inexpensive alternative to other higher priced lenses, that is well built, performs well and has character, I highly recommend it. At a price of under a hundred dollars, it's a steal.

I'm liking it as a companion to the XF50/f2 - a portrait lens vs. the technically sharp 50/2.

At f1.2, the center is soft and the edge is very soft; both progress until f4 where the center sharpness equals the XF @f2 but the edge is still a bit soft. At f5.6 both the center and edge equals the XF @f2. [Note that @f4, the XF is sharper still, and the TTArtisan doesn't catch up.]

If you're thinking of buying a soft focus/diffusion/fog filter for your XF50/2, try this lens instead.

Physically, both the lens mounting and the focusing ring are smooth and just right - not too loose or too tight -and the hard stop at infinity is accurate. I would have preferred the (half-stop) aperture click-stops to be more positive, but it's OK.

Bottom line: at $98, TTArtisan sets a high bar for quality & value.

If you're looking for a budget 50mm lens, but still want to feel a quality product that was worth your money, you really do not need to look further than the TTArtisan 50mm lens here. For less than $100, I don't think there is a better lens out there that is able to compete -- in both build and image quality.

I bought the X-Mount version for my Fujifilm X-T200. Having only the 15-45mm Kit lens before, I didn't truly feel happy with my camera until I picked up the TTArtisan 50mm. Although it is a fully manual lens, I find myself wanting to pick up my camera more and try and find that amazing sweet spot with the focus point, and look at the sweet, sweet Depth of Field this lens is able to provide.

The lens is solid with it's all metal build, and the focus ring feels smooth as butter. The clickable aperture ring feels great (especially as I'm solely a stills-shooter), and I love how it feels in hand.

There's not much I can say here that hasn't already been said about this lens, so all I will say is this: Just buy it. You won't be disappointed in this manual lens.

Attached are photos all taken with the Fuji X-T200 + TTArtisan 50mm f/1.2.

The build quality is amazing, really felt it’s quality right away, give it a density filter and enjoy your shooting in a sunny day. A great lens for the value that you’ll never regret owning.

The shallow depth of field is so tight and thin that any camera which does not have an IBIS will struggle to have a focus nailing eventfully.
This lens has a strange characteristic. I did took a lot of shoot with it in different settings and figured that at F2.0 is the best for creamy bokeh and smooth subject transition to background out of focus blur.
The image that I have uploaded will give you an idea how thin and sharp the focus it. I have taken this with X-30 body and now I am wishing to have either X-S10 or X-T4 which had IBIS.
This lens is heavy and bulky and gives a premium output. If you can live with slight corner blur with some serious purple fringing - yes sometimes in the center of the lens as well - and do take RAW mage then this the Italian Job for you and me and everyone.
