Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have 220V, so is a different versin available? Or do you need a transformer

A: This unit doesn't support 220V and we don't have a transformer that will work with this UPS.

Q: 2. Can it be safely used on its side?

A: Generally it is not recommended to use the CyberPower AVR Series CP900AVR UPS this way.

Q: 3. Says takes 2 12 volt batteries? Hard to believe. Can't find a small 12 v battery that would fit.

A: Yes, the CyberPower AVR Series CP900AVR UPS, B&H # CYP900AV, does take two 12V batteries. The specific battery that is listed on CyberPower's website for this unit is not currently for sale at B&H: https://bit.ly/3UrEbwh.

Q: 4. Can this be used horizontally and the lcd screen rotated?

A: No it is not able to do so.

Q: 5. Can this be used to power strobes as it's a pure sine wave?

A: Yes. As long as your flash head is no more than 720 Watt second. I have tested this UPS with my Profoto Acute2R 2400 power pack with one Profoto Acute/D4 Head. The power pack must be set to the minimum setting of 1/4 power output. Otherwise, the UPS will shut down. Be gentle transporting the UPS to photoshoot locations and ensure the vents near the bottom side panels have proper clearance.

Q: 6. What is the battery life after power is disconnected?

A: There is no simple answer to that question, as it depends on what the load is. It could be 30 minutes or it could be 5 minutes. A small, low power computer with the monitor not on battery might last 30-40 minutes, where a PC with a large power supply, high power video card, 4 hard drives, and three 27 monitors all connected to battery will go pretty fast. If you know the actual power requirements of your connected gear, you can approximate with your own math. If unsure, get a bigger unit.

Q: 7. Does it convert voltage from 220 volts to 120 volts?

A: This is a backup power supply that will provide 120 VAC in case of a power failure. The input and output are 120 VAC, so NO conversion.

Q: 8. Can I plug in a power conditioner to this (Furman SS-6B Power Strip) or would that be redundant, or cause a problem? I’m in residential with power issues that are causing odd hums in audio recordings, and the electrician says a UPC is the way to go, but the studio engineer says a power conditioner is necessary.

A: I'm an electrician and concur with the other answers, you need to look into grounding issues, specifically what's called a "ground loop". As for the UPS, it won't fix this issue, it fixes voltage and power factor issues as well as backup power of course, but it won't hurt anything either. They do make "ground loop isolators" that may do the trick, but sometimes won't help either.

Q: 9. Does it come with rack mounts that attach to the sides of the unit?

A: Rackmounts are included with the CyberPower PFC Sinewave 2000VA UPS.

Q: 10. can this be mounted underneath my standing desk's tabletop?

A: We do not currently carry a mounting bracket for this UPS, but it may be possible to mount the CyberPower SL700U underneath a desk with hook and loop fasteners or similar hardware.
