A: Hi Mackenzie.This is a fantastic product. I have one, and a B+W clear filter on all my lenses (mostly Zeiss). It makes the camera less intimidating, provides deep shade to the lens (better than the original), collapses at a touch and is very compact, and , to answer your question the original lens cap fits perfectly (at least for my lenses). To be perfectly clear, the filter screws onto the lens, the lens hood screws onto the filter thread, and when it is collapsed the lens cap goes onto the filter as if the hood were not there. I am sure it would be the same if you don't use a filter.The best thing is that even when collapsed it provides fantastic protections to the lens/filter surface, which is recessed about a centimeter, well away from sticky fingers and other hazards. As a result, apart from blowing off dust, the surface stays pristine and I virtually never need to clean a lens or filter.Highly recommendedPeter

A: Yes, it will work without vignetting but it may block some of your view through the viewfinder. It blocks about 30% of the view on my Canon 7s mounted to a canon 50 mm 1.4 LTM. For this reason, and the fact that it looks cheap, I went with smaller metal hood I purchased elsewhere.
