Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Should I buy this Arca-Swiss with the classic screw mount or get the head without the clamp and use an old Kirk 2.4 clamp with a level that can be seen when a camera with a plate is mounted on the head?

A: The screw mount or lever mount is a matter of personal preference, either one will work well.

Q: 2. Can the ball be rotated so that you have a vertical perspective as well as the horizontal?

A: Yes, the ball flips completely 90 degrees to the side. It will hold steady.Generally speaking if you use portrait mode a lot, you may want to get an L bracket. It's much easier to get all lined up when you can just put your camera on top already in portrait mode.

Q: 3. I have Nikon D5 with RRS standard Arca-Swiss Quick Release plate which I use with my Gimbal Head. But It does not seem to fit into the Fliplock clamp. Am I doing something wrong?

A: Yes I had the same problem with the flip lock style clamp. I kept turning it trying to get it to tighten and it finally fell apart. I sent it back for the other style the screw tighten and it works as it should.

Q: 4. Would this ball head be compatible with a manfrotto 055CXPRO3 tripod?

A: I don't see why not. The P0 is a pretty compact head with a standard thread in the base. I'm using it on 2-series Benro legs and it's great.

Q: 5. Can anyone recommend a universal L bracket to use with this ball head? I was considering the Arca-Swiss

A: I use sunway l brackets and am very pleased.

Q: 6. Will this ball head handle a 5D MkIV + Canon 100-400mm lens? Just want to make sure it won't droop especially when tilted.

A: Yes it will.

Q: 7. Does the fliplock work with RRS plates?

A: Yes it works with any Arca compatible plate such as the RRS plates and brackets.

Q: 8. What is the base diameter of the P0?

A: I measured mine at 2.125 inches or 53mm. I use it with a Sirui N-2204x and it fits really well.

Q: 9. Is it possible to remove the clamp on this head? I found this fliplock clamp really hard to use and I would like to replace it with a RRS clamp.

A: I do not believe is possible to replace the clamp. And yes, at times it appears difficult to open the clamp but once you master it, it is easy and the safest. To open just squeeze the clamp close and pull the retainer knob at the en towards you. When it releases, just open it half way and release it complety by pulling the second retainer away from the ball. Once I considered this the best ballhead but it tends to come apart if not careful when adjusting the width of the jaws opening.

Q: 10. Hi,If I understand correctly, this head is compatible with both types of camera plates, classic Arca Swiss camera plates and the new so-called MonoballFix plates promoted by Arca Swiss. Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

A: The Arca-Swiss Monoball P0 is compatible with the Monoball Classic systems.

I was a little skeptical because of some of the complaints of the flip lock lever, and the floppy tightening ring. Both complaints are misguided! The lever is a brilliant solution and provides an excellent safety interlock. There are two catches that restrict the opening of the lever. This is a very good thing! The first catch is obvious and needs to be lightly pulled to open the 1st 90 degrees. Then one can see a ribbed rod within the lever that sits right at your fingernail which, when pulled lightly, releases the lever fully. This is the best safety interlock I have ever seen. As for the so-called floppy tightening ring, the manual states clearly the the play is necessary for proper function. It is silly to complain-the ring is very easy to operate. All in all, the best ball head I have ever used. It is crazy strong and light. My carbon fiber tripod FINALLY is really light like it should be! And with the rotational function above the ball, one can shoot panos without an added pano accessory. That alone should save a couple of hundred on the rig! Highly recommended!

I just received this item in the mail after a long awaited restock but it was well worth it! Like everything Arca-Swiss, you can expect a finely machined piece of equipment. Everything works so smoothly without any hiccups whatsoever.

The only con to this product is the price, but given the quality, it's well worth the investment as it offers a greater range of versatility compared to a traditional ball head.

I've been using this Arca-Swiss Monoball p0 for a few years now and I complained about the 'flipping flip lock' at the outset but may be I got used to operating it properly and it is in my opinion the best head and best lock and is very light to travel with. Moreover, it does not require a separate leveling base especially for panoramic work and that means light weight again. It is very well made and well designed and will outlast me I'm sure. I'm giving it 5 stars this time. It can be used with the heavy lenses without any fear of crumbling down. The flip-lock mechanism may be a bit hard to operate if wearing gloves but otherwise this is almost the perfect ball head for travel, landscape and general photography overall. Great product I will enjoy using for a long time.
