Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this pass vlans to the network on the other side?

A: Yes it can be done.

Q: 2. Does this antenna have a snow cover available?

A: We do not carry snow covers for the Ubiquiti Networks airFiber 60 LR Wireless Bridge.

Q: 3. What is the range? The long range version says 1.24 miles but no info on this model.

A: The Ubiquiti Networks GigaBeam Wireless Bridge should reach up to 1640.42 ft in ideal conditions.

Q: 4. What's the maximum range for these puppies while maintaining 1Gbps reliable? I'm trying to fix Isla Mujeres's internet situation without having to route a fiber line through the ocean floor

A: This would be heavily dependent on any obstructions and deployment environment. I would recommend calling us at 800.606.6969 that way we can have a specialist look into the situation in depth.

Q: 5. what is its usage?

A: We use it to extend our internet access to a building a couple of blocks away that is in an internet and phone desert; that is, there's no internet or phone carrier in town that can provide us service at that location. With two of these (they have to used as a pair), we can connect computers at that building to our network just as if they were physically connected.

Q: 6. How long of a Cat6 Cable can I run from the Antenna to my PC?

A: The longest Cat6 cable length one can run is about 300'.

Q: 7. Do I need to purchase a UniFi OS console in order to configure this?

A: The Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Building-to-Building Network Bridge (2-Pack) is pre configured but a UniFi Cloud Key (1.0.5 or newer) or UniFi Dream Machine (1.0.1 or newer) or a Linux, Mac OS X, or Microsoft Windows 7/8/10 would be required to run the UnFi OS console software.

Q: 8. What is the maximum or recommended distance for deployments of this item?

A: Assuming a clear unblocked line of sight the manufacturer stated max range is 1640'.

Q: 9. how many airfibers do you need?

A: These devices have to be used in pairs. You would need 2 of them.

Q: 10. Do I need 2 of these to make them work properly? or just with one sending the signal and another one cheaper receiving it?

A: Yes, 2 are required.

I have a few of these new UAP AC LR APs on our Network now. I probably have a few dozen UniFi APs in production. They are amazing. These new APs actually Provision much faster than the previous model too. Gigabit connectivity is a huge plus. I don't think the range is quite as good as the old LR model, but the other features definitely make up for that.

This thing is no joke. I live on the fourth floor in an apartment and I still get signal on the ground. The set up on the controller is good. Even easier with the app. It’s not for those that aren’t willing to put in some work, but it’s well worth the work.

We are only a month in but I am really liking this way of doing our home wireless internet! 5 access points through the house are giving us great coverage. The other cool part is that with the software our guy installed we have a home network, a guest network and can build out more for other uses like a security camera system, one just for the kids devices (that we can then control the hours the network is on) and all kinds of other great features and reports. Not normal to do this for a house but I would recommend it... and these... to about anyone at this point!

. The WAP was easy to set up and configured itself. Yay! However, I soon found that the Wifi signal dropped repeatedly within the residence some 25 or 30 feet away. Over time I read that a Beta feature was configured by default. It was an easy change to make once I ran down the issue. After that, everything worked great; almost ten months now. (I think I had to disable the Uplink Connectivity Monitor function, but it's been a while so I'm not 100% certain.)

we have a 70,000 square foot warehouse and were experiencing dead spots since some of the devices that we need to run our operations are connected wireless. Using the Unifi AP's solve the dead spots and we can also manage the use of authorized devices on our guest network.

We have a room under our garage and wifi has been horrible in there. I figured I would try one Unifiy LR before buying another one and this one device increased the signal to full bars.

Our house has shiplap walls and even potentially lead paint under the paneling, both of which destroys wifi pass-through even on the 2.4 band.

I was looking into the Pro but didn't want to spend the money. The LR on the other hand has the same number of antennas as the pro, but is not as feature-rich, more like the regular AC.

So far I have been extremely happy as I've installed these for business purposes in the past, and as hard-wired extenders/access points go, this could not be easier. Simply run your cable, plug one end into the router and the other into the access point and 4 screws later you're up and running.

Got my wife's computer from 4Mb all the way to the 200+Mb we're paying for.

NOTE: For home use, the hanging bracket doesn't work well with popcorn ceilings. To fix this, I cut some extra 1 lengths of cable and stuffed them under the bracket before tightening. This lifts the bracket away from the popcorn for a more even hang and the popcorn doesn't get in the way of the twisty clip.

I bought this to improve Wi-Fi coverage in my house, and did it make a huge improvement. I now get the same 50Meg download speed over Wi-Fi, that I was getting over a wired LAN connection (previously, I got half that at best). Installing and setting it up is more involved because the product is aimed at the commercial/business market. I recommend that anyone considering this unit download the manual at Ubiquiti's website, to see if they are comfortable with the installation process. To set it up for use, you have to download and install Ubiquiti's Controller software. I had no trouble installing and setting it up, but I am a techy. It's not a consumer grade power it up and walk away device, but in performance, it trounces all consumer grade devices that I have tried. You do need two LAN cables due to the way it's powered. It uses a POE (Power Over Ethernet) injector. First LAN cable goes from your router to the POE injector. The POE injector has an AC adapter. The second LAN cable goes from the POE injector to the Access Point device, carrying both power and internet traffic.

The UAP-AC-LR provides stable WiFi with a range comparable or better than most consumer routers, but gives additional control like the ability to create multiple SSID’s, configure tx and rx power, have fine control over channel usage, set bandwidth quotas and access restrictions by user group, etc. I paired mine with an EdgeRouter X to create a complete home networking solution with enterprise-level control. When considering this product you need to be aware of a few things: 1) This is a wireless access point only, not a router with built-in access point. You will need a separate router to route traffic on your network, and 2) You must install the controller software to configure this access point, and that certain features (statistics, reporting, manually applied user groups and the Guest Portal) require the controller software to be always running on your network; I installed it on a Raspberry Pi I already had, which works great. If either of these things sounds daunting to you, you may wish to consider the Ubiquity DreamMachine, an all-in-one controller, router and access point that also incorporates a firewall.
